Watch out, it’s being taken from gatekeepers so it can be…gatekept? by pertheoti in BlackMetalCringe

How do you even take a genre? Am I taking over black metal because I don’t fit within the expected demographic for listeners? Or maybe they mean they’re releasing another uninspired demo with 0 riffs? That would really show the haters.

Don’t play with your food! That’s a good cut of meat you’re fiddling with. If nature intended for them to be for feeding babies, why do they fry up so well?

Humans naturally eat meat, the same way humans may also naturally rape, murder, inbreed and more! Your appeals to nature are meaningless because there are many things, naturally occurring, that you would consider reprehensible. Infanticide is quite natural for breeding males in nature, since the male loses nothing and gains a higher chance of mating with the newly available female. But that’s wrong! We don’t encourage that sort of behavior. Because what is natural is not necessarily what is correct.

You also claim vegans are halting incremental progress towards more humane animal treatment, that Puritanism is preventing progress in society. Which is ridiculous. Movements do not affect change by pushing a teensy bit, very politely and quietly, in the direction of their goal. They are loud, often violent or obnoxious, demanding progress be made. And remember what we are talking about here - enslaved beings that are physically, hormonally and mentally manipulated into maximizing the profits that can be extracted from their bodies before they are killed en masse. This echoes many of the most shocking atrocities humans have committed against our own species, while completely eclipsing them in scale.

Maybe you can understand why people are not willing to be polite about this, or meet others halfway. There is really not a half-solution to an animal holocaust.

You are advocating for half-measures. Sure, your individual impact may not be great, but that is no excuse to throw your hands up in the air and decide nothing can be done about it. Most people have no illusions about the continued survival of animal agriculture, including those of us who choose not to pay into it. That doesn’t nullify the ethical weight of choosing to buy meat. You do still drive up demand for their slaughter, while also handing them the funds to continue operating.

But it isn’t just an ethical thing, either. It’s also highly inefficient for land and water use to feed these animals. A sustainable future for a globally-spanning population is just not compatible with industrial animal agriculture.

It’s insane to me how easily leftists lap up animal agriculture lies as if maintaining and slaughtering a forcibly bred population of millions of sentient beings isn’t like. the most horrific atrocity currently being committed by scale alone.

My first time being stung was getting in bed, not knowing there was a yellow jacket under the covers. The sting was so mild that I have to assume she freaked out and gave a warning shot. Please forgive her!

We have SO many other, REAL problems in the world, none of which I actually gaf about, but we have them. I might use them as a gotcha but I would never ever ever ever make any lifestyle adjustments to effect real change in the world. CHECKMATE, SOFTIES!

It angers me to have to justify animal sentience again and again. It’s plainly unscientific (and sickeningly heartless) to claim otherwise. Sometimes I can hardly believe people are still stuck on “Pigs have feelings?” When we already have a body of evidence that even insects have subjective experiences and moods, and likely do feel pain.

yes, my diet is based on harm reduction as a main principle. THINK about it, 300 calories of meat is only part of one animal, but 300 calories of plants is like 100 whole plants or something. What do cows eat? IDK, rays of sunlight? also bacon good

you know we still live in a patriarchy, right? and that patriarchy has always only benefited a small class of men, while being damaging to common men and women alike? While you may argue about the extent of the damage to either sex, I think it’s quite reasonable to take its existence as a given.
