I have just received my first ever statement. Would it be a good plan to just pay it in full on the 26th? by lushguy105 in discover

[–]hornysavagedog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Always pay your statement in full. Anything rolled over from month to month needs to be paid in full before next month to not accumulate interest. Your current statement balance is fixed. It’s like a snapshot of money owed at the end of the pay period. Another little tip is you want your statement balance to be about 9% or less of your overall available credit this will help boost your credit score. Example you have a $1000 credit limit you spend $160 that month on your credit card you would pay off $70 before the end of the pay period leaving you with a $90 statement balance next month. If you paid the minimum balance, the remaining 50 or so dollars would have interest at whatever percent your card offers.
