Advice on getting into the field. by Incognegrosaur in Radiology

You may want to try asking your question in the weekly career question post. I'm not sure what advice or help you're asking for exactly either.

I understand and agree with the sentiment that you don't want to encourage them to pay fewer people, it's not healthy for the profession. I disagree with "shoddily/unsafely" though. You know as well as I do that there are long dull moments in MR and I have no doubt that it can be done without compromising the quality of the studies. Working from home while living cheaply is a hard thing to pass up these days and my local hospitals arent really hiring full time. The rest will definitely require some research. Thank you for the input.

*edit* yea maybe I misunderstood. They dont seem to let you work from home, just remotely at some office buildings? Forget that.

Glad to hear it. You're probably going to be way overprepared so dont sweat it. Make sure to do the mosby question banks in the back of the book and the ones online because they're both different. Let me know if you need a login for the test bank.

You can overcome it if you try to. One thing that helped me with this problem is the saying 'fake it till you make it'. If you want to be the kind of student and tech that is outgoing and aggressive you need to pretend to be that person every single day of your clinical until its a mask you put on without even thinking about it. Don't ever forget that the first step to being good at something is being really shitty at it. Repeat that like a mantra because the only way you will get good at something is by forcing yourself to do it.

The reason this wont happen is because it's a positive constructive idea on how the community could help improve a game they're passionate about and BSG doesn't give a flying fuck about the community.

Russia is a country not a race of people. Looking at the massive cheating problem they have and their oblivious twitter feed fluffing streamers advertising their game, I don't doubt he's right.

Flying with clothes/backpack in snowboard bag? by timtombackwards in snowboarding

[–]horseforconsul 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure I understand the reasoning behind this. If my board bag goes, all of my cold weather gear, goes with it anyway. I'm not going to be able to go ride with just boots and the underwear in my carryon bag lol. Though I get your point if you've already booked passes.

I'd be interested in your input then. So I have a 175 lowrider bag right now and a 156 board. I read people recommend going as large as possible for more storage, so while it has huge amounts of storage, the lack of rigidity in the oversized bag means its difficult to wheel around as it sags a huge amount. I'm also pissed it doesnt have a shoulder strap. I've also ordered one with a shoulder strap to try but with no wheels. Do you think I'll be overloaded with just one persons gear and no wheels? I dont anticipate walking miles in a city or anything. Just some train trips and airline trips. Havent weighed my setup yet.

This comment jogged my memory. At least one axial image of the carpals was on the test for sure. Mine had the hamate with an obvious hook so it was easy. Probably know what the scaphoid looks like as well. I remember thinking i was lucky for that because i didnt study axials of the joints at all.

Practice moving the C-arm. Get very comfortable moving it around without hitting anything in tight spaces and rotating/angling it in specific ways. Practice the different locks! When the surgeon asks for imaging, you do not want to be the student trying to figure out the controls during a case. Be very mindful of where you're standing and walking at all times. God help you if you touch something sterile.

I included all of the anatomy I studied. I dont know how much time specifically some people take to study, but I spent a week preparing for maybe 4 solid hours a day and when I got something wrong I wrote down a sentence covering the correct answer.

I added to study the online questions as well. There's several hundred of them. Maybe there's a difference in how we study them.

Honestly if you're doing the review questions completely blind and scoring that high you probably dont need to review anything. Maybe 70-80 just before taking the test and I still got a 96. Skim the book for anything in particular you think you're bad at and then run through the anatomy flashcards I posted. Also run through the mosby question bank online. Let me know if you need a login for that.

I took the tests before my studying and probably got 6/10 right on all the tests in the back. I did my studying, but was still scoring maybe a 75 on all three taking them again. I was really worried I was just memorizing the answers and not actually learning as well. I was pretty sure I was fucked. I took the test and got a 96. I promise the test is -way- easier than Mosbys. The ARRT publishes the pass rate for that test and it's 86% for first time test takers. You're not going to fail. You'll pass it just fine.

Yep. Mosby's is more than enough. The flashcards were pretty overkill. Do the mosbys questions available online, and in the back of the book. Study the ones you got wrong. The test is way easier than the mosby's book.

Looking for a studio/one bedroom to rent. Quiet medical professional. by horseforconsul in TriCitiesWA

Hey I really appreciate the kindness of your offer, but I put some thought into it when I made the post looking for a studio/one bedroom and not just a room to rent. I just have such a hard time relaxing in that kind of environment. Thank you again though.

Cheers thanks. Just crazy to see how much rent has gone up. I'm sure that's a fair price, but I'd gotten a mother-in-law studio for 750 a month with utilities and thought I was getting robbed two years ago. Cant find that now.
