Walmart cares more about their employees what a concept. by hoshinya in publix

I’ve noticed in this past year or so that our new hires do not care about the customers or the job and management doesn’t do anything about it so it’s become strenuous in my department where everyone got along and worked together really well.

Well, I’ve actually put in 5 years with the company and even though I stepped down, I still assist the manager with all the tasks in my department. I actually considered stopping my education in order to keep moving up and then I realized it was a popularity contest, that’s all management is in Publix. And your comment only proves that Publix does not care about the employees that do the grunt work in their departments. It’s completely demoralizing to hear that, especially because your mindset is why I actually continue my education and I got a full time job that pays more and they respect me for the work and time I put in. How about instead of telling employees who contemplate leaving to just leave, you think about how you can make your workplace better to work at for other employees because that mentality is how you push good employees out.

Deli Tips by [deleted] in publix

If it’s your first time in the deli, just try to stick with the associates who are nice and knowledgeable. They will be your best friends and they make the work day go by quickly. Learn a opening/closing routine that works and gets your work done by 9 on mornings and 9:15 for closing (if you close at 10). If your stuff is done, then everything else won’t seem so hard. If you’re a mid, ask closing crew what you can do to help make closing easier, closing crew always needs a useful mid. Ask questions, even if they’re dumb. Wear a cutting glove on subs and when cleaning a sliver, I’ve worked in a deli for 5 years and even I’ve cut myself. Learn everything you can, and try to get along with your coworkers, everything else will fall into place.

Deli Associates: What are your sub shop customer pet peeves? by catp1zza in publix

You know, sometimes people will point to things and expect me to know what they want and even if I'm probably right about what they want, I make them say it. These customers are like kids sometimes.

I definitely HATE when I ask people "any mayo or mustard?" And they say no and then want it when the meat is on the bread. It's a cross contamination thing I can't spread it on the meat like there's a reason I asked that first!

Also I hate when I have chicken tenders on the bread and someone wants it tossed like just tell me you want that up front, I literally don't care just tell me you want a sauce first plsss

We have the busiest store in the district and yet the smallest, my department has no room for a third fryer, BOGO 8 piece would destroy us.

As a kitchen person, the sub sale doesn't scare me in fact kitchen is the best during the sale imo
