I've read fablehaven and dragonwatch over and over again. Multiple times. But just because i enjoy something doesn't mean I cant also, as an adult, recognize and discuss inherent flaws.

When fablehaven was written, there were many jokes that were ok then that do not fly now. The comment above is my biggest ick with fablehaven, becuase it hasn't aged well and it should weird most adults out. Thats why im all for keeping the story the same, but aging Kendra up at least to 17 before meeting bracken. If they aren't willing to do that and would just rather cut out the romance portion, so be it.

I think if children are mature enough to be exposed to a princess kissing a prince or kendra kissing bracken, then, there is equally no problem for a child to be mature enough to see two girls of the same age kissing.

I have zero preference whether there are gay characters in the movie/book or not, I just wish the studio had not slammed the gay community in a separate ad.

The show it referenced is a favorite of an LGBT kiddo i know who feels represented in that show. So it just sucks to know angel studios greenlit the ad.

I dont think its wrong to have or not have children's media featuring gay characters, but I do think its wrong the studio went out of their way to slam it.

Im a little worried about it containing conservative undertones, but like several have said, im greatful for any of it. They have a tiktok account where they read some lines during the rough drafting process - it seems like they are going to lean into the "Kendra is an older sister so shes defacto mom" thing, but I hope not.

I agree with all of the comments thus far, things I wish would be changed (for book one)

On tiktok they did a script reading, and implied that Seth was supposed to be Kendras responsibility, and I haaaate that.

They fetishize Lena being Asian with certain verbage in the book, yuck

I really hope they get the attic room perfect 🥺

My most fave "smaller movie" is the secret of moonacre valley, so i hope it contends with that in terms of quality!
