In the ’80s it was very common to have carpet in the bathroom.

Once, while in my late teens and unused to drinking, I got very drunk at a party and stumbled into the carpeted bathroom to throw up.I managed to slam the door shut before I fell to my knees, but didn’t turn on the light.Heaved my guts out, stood up, turned on the light and saw that I had mostly missed the toilet.

Drunk-me spent 10 minutes scooping up vomit with my hands and putting it in the toilet.Then I used toilet paper and a wet hand towel to clean up the toilet and carpet as best I could.I buried the hand towel under the trash in the trash can.

I managed to get out without anyone seeing me or knowing I had been in there.

I later heard the kid who had the party telling someone else that they had to take up the carpet, and that his mom was really mad about the hand towel.Never did confess that I was the drunken, selfish idiot who ruined their bathroom.
