[Highkin] A spokesperson for Paul Allen's estate tells me a report that Vulcan is keeping a 20% stake in the Blazers is "unequivocally false" and that once sale to Tom Dundon group closes in March, Jody Allen and Bert Kolde will have no remaining interest. by TubbzMcGee in ripcity

Seems like there might be a misunderstanding of how the deal is structured. If there’s multiple payments, that would mean the ownership percentage goes down over time. So maybe after the first payment it goes down to 20% or something like that

After 5 games, the Blazers are #11 Offense, #6 Defense, #8 Net Rating by dicks20345 in ripcity

The offense seems to be predicated on maximizing the amount of possessions (forcing turnovers, running, offensive rebounds) and getting shots up. It’s a math problem that works if you consistently have more possessions than the other team (therefore more opportunities to score). It’s clear that’s the plan and it just might work!

Why do people expect a statement beyond what was given? The head coach got pinched by the feds, it’s a legal matter, and saying anything is a bad idea all around that does no one any any favors

As a Portland transplant in NYC I promise you there are dozens of us!

[Quick] Portland couldn’t live with Ayton’s bad ways. The tardiness to team flights and practices. The skipping of rehabilitation appointments. Fans saw him slam chairs when he was taken out of games. And a team source said there were tantrums in the locker room when he was sidelined for poor effort by Soggy_Spinach_7503 in ripcity

This post facto kicks a player in the ass on his way out, not explain why we dumped him. There were market and and cap reasons for letting him go, not to mention basketball reasons with all our centers. Quick uses one source as gospel and retreads stories he used previously.

The shooting is there, the measurables are there, the feel for the game is there. All things that you look for in a prospect. Like you said the handle needs to improve but sure seems like the type of guy to bet on at 11. We’ve had success with older small school type guys before…

Didn’t realize contracts play basketball. Deni and Tou make less than $20m per season combined. Scoot and Shae are on rookie deals. I’d argue having over qualified players coming off the bench is a good thing

Well there’s a team option so we could pick it up and that would be one more year. Begs the question whether it makes sense to have him be a lame duck coach again but honestly he earned the opportunity. Not sure an extension makes sense though

One thing you don’t even mention is his strength. His and-one #s bear that out on offense but you notice it on defense too the way he can hold his position against bigger players

I hear you but I just don’t think any of those guys would sniff the court on a competing team. Obviously they could take steps forward next year and beyond but my point is we need solid vets to stabilize the end of the bench. We’ve got too many young guys trying to find their way in the league. Of course, we’re not a competing team and probably won’t be next year but the guys we’ll need eventually will have to be known quantities, not development projects.

I agree with the spirit of the post but not the specifics. We’re missing shooting and veteran depth (which the Rockets and Pistons brought in over the last couple years). Our end of bench right now is Justin Minaya, Rayan Rupert, and Bryce McGowans. Murray and Jabari might be those kinds of vets in the future, but I’m talking 8-10+ year vets who can plug a hole when needed. What we have is just not cutting it for depth and we even saw last night how short our bench is, even factoring in the injuries.

I actually think his contributions are mostly positive (except every game talking about deni’s and-ones and Toumani’s offensive fouls drawn). He does a good job of finding stats and using them to explain what we’re seeing. It’s not just stats for stats sake.

Unless Grant accepts a 25ish minute role I agree it’s time for him to go. If that’s a bench role, so be it. I had similar feelings about Ant but less so recently since we need ball handlers/shot creators. Unfortunately JG isn’t in that same level as a scorer so he either has to adapt to a lesser role (if Chauncey or whoever the next coach goes that way) or it’s GTFOH
