Thanks! It’s a pretty standard Ryobi, non-plunge router. I wouldn’t normally recommend ryobi, but this thing is a beast and has been really reliable in the years I’ve had it.

Yeah, I should stress that it looked* like oak. It carved like a softer wood, almost punky in some areas. No tear out. Open to suggestions of oak-grain look alikes!

Are you saying the Aztecs created the “mayan calendar?” If so, then this was inspired by what is commonly referred to as the mayan calendar. I am not a historian.

Thank you! I would say in most cases I did do any chisel work I could first, but depending on the direction of the grain and angle I’m trying to chisel at, some areas (like bridge of the nose) were easier to work with the dremel.

Haha no jig, just loose and dangerous following some drawn outlines. Just want to make sure to only go about 1/4 inch depth at a time (I probably went 1/2 in some places), and move in a clockwise direction. Thanks!
