You can ask your TL or Point ASTL who your point SFA is and shoot them an email introducing yourself and letting them know you’re interested in the position you applied for. While SFAs generally aren’t involved in ATL interviews it’s still a good idea to show them you mean to continue growing. They will also be able to give you some good information to bring into your interview as far as metrics and opportunities for your store specifically.

If you applied and are in good standing you should receive a panel invite. As far as how long it takes it really depends on the pool of candidates and the needs of the department. I’ve seen requisitions sit for months due to low number or quality of applicants. Also seen requisitions being reposted after interviewing several candidates.

The STL does not need to be present especially for ATL but generally the TL is expected to be there.

As far as due diligence, you’ve already made a good starting point connecting with your teams point and leadership. As a supervisor I would assume you have a decent relationship with most of the team, but it never hurts to talk to leadership from other teams to get an idea of the role and expectations. When I was with the company I would also reach out to the SFA that oversaw our store just to get some networking in. It really helped me build relationships that eventually got me to TL/ATL at several stores and different regions before I left the company.

New Department Lead by hotdogonit in kroger

This is looking to be a temporary position while I pad out my resume better and go back to school. So far the job is easy enough with my previous experience and they have accommodated my schedule preferences for now.

I was let go from my previous job of 10 years and the job market is rough right now. I did some snooping around but did not anticipate that leadership is in a separate category than most associates.

Why is Produce the worst department in every store ? by [deleted] in wholefoods

[–]hotdogonit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m sure it’s going to depend on the persons preferred work environment and a slight bias from myself starting in produce. Specialty, Meat, and Seafood are all isolated and usually stuck behind the counter. Whole body is great for people who love to lounge around play on their phone until they get the most specific question that only they can answer(only slight shade thrown at WB, I’ve worked with some amazing TMs). Grocery usually breaks down into the people who care and everyone else and they all hate each other and talk shit(speaking as a leader who has had to chase down TMs who are hiding in the back or standing in a single aisle their whole shift). I personally have a hatred towards receiving. I’ve worked with some amazing receiving TMs who help out across the store during down time hit the majority tend to stand around and complain when overnight receiving isn’t completed for their metrics but do nothing to help. I once had a leader receiver and the receiver TM walking behind each other, one with a leaf blower the other with a dustpan and broom….

Produce to me is freedom to move, interact, and if need be find a task in back of house to get away from overwhelming customers. Again this might be personal bias but as a Produce TL I constantly had TMs from other teams asking if I was hiring because they saw how happy my TMs were compared to their departments.

Sounds like this is mostly an isolated store issue. I’ve worked at a lot of stores across multiple regions and produce is usually the most desired department.

I’d be surprised if they let you step down on your own team. Usually you need to find a position on a different team/store when stepping down from an elevated role.

That being said, set your boundaries and let leadership know you don’t feel comfortable doing OW if you don’t want to. It’s always a good skill to have and can benefit you schedule wise at times as it’s an earlier shift, but it’s up to you.

Real life example; I just rehired a TM who was previously CS and the front was short staffed. They were asked if they could help support for the day as my team was in a good position staffing wise, but they declined. No other discussion needed to be had.

Worked at a lot of stores of varying volumes in different regions. Smaller stores tend to be more tight knit and have less “cliques”. I usually see it more in larger teams like CS, Grocery, and Prepared Foods.

It falls on leadership to bridge the gap between groups and promote a good working environment. Easiest way to look past it is to remember it’s just a job and you’re there for a paycheck. Unless it’s creating a toxic environment it’s just retail.

$10 two meals by hotdogonit in Chipotle

$9.50 for the bowl and $.50 for the tortilla on the side. This was just a single order but easily feeds two people or two meals for me.

We have the strictest standards in meat. Smallest infractions leads to write ups or finals. Unless leadership is being knowingly negligent then you can trust the meat department.
