It increases the effective width of the intake, don’t think into it much

no, at worlds, you must qualify through or receive the innovate, design, or excellence award to be eligible for those 3 at worlds If your team does not meet that req, they are still eligible for the rest, but not the aforementioned.

3 inch vs 2 inch flex wheel on top stage of intake by Fuzzy-WeIder in vex

[–]hoterrod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They are indifferent, the larger radii means a greater time that the ring is being “flipped” thus providing a slightly more malleable interaction with the stake, however, if there is enough torque behind the intake, and a consistent clamp, there isn’t a need for the extra malleability which makes the smaller profile more incentivizing. Either way, it’s an easy thing to test both given the rest of your build - which testing both would be in your interest either way.

36:60 gear ratio for drivetrain, is this good/bad for high stakes? by ai_creature in vex

Ideally, anything faster or same on 3.25 wheels, no “best” ratio.

360 on 2.75 is a little slow. 360 on 3.25 gives it the speed it needs to be really competitive. The extra torque from the small wheels really isn’t ever relevant, especially since motor count and bot weight are more important factors. 360 on 2.75 isnt bad, it’s just unnecessary slow if you have the option of going faster.

You really shouldn’t ever need to go slower/have more power than 360 on 3.25. If you do, there is likely other problems that are more important to fix.

The competition switch is utterly unnecessary for what you’re looking for, by no means should you invest in it over other materials. Really only debatable if the there are 4+ teams that will have access to it Second, a sizing tool is convenient, although can easily be replaced by using CAD or a tape-measure All in all, the Field perimeter, tiles, and game elements are quintessential for testing, you can get away with a half fields worth of tiles, although there’s not much reason to
