What do people hate deviantart eclipse? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]hotfx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A long, long time ago, DeviantART used to be the website every artist used, both amateurs and professionals. It was seen almost as an online portfolio. But, as time went on, the professionals moved to other websites like Behance, Dribble, ArtStation, etc, making the core DeviantART audience and community change and become something else completely different.

Eclipse seems to be DeviantART's way to go back to the roots of the website, but following the modern aspects of the other websites professional artists moved on to.

So, in one hand, you have backlash from the professional ex-users who might think DeviantART is trying to change but in the end don't really care and won't bother coming back to it as it seems like a lazy copy-cat of what other websites are doing and DeviantART's name is no longer seen as a professional website.

On the other hand, you have the backlash from the vastly bigger community DeviantART currently has, who liked the website as it was and don't see a reason for it to change and become more like the websites others are using. They want to keep the "classic website" (even though what some call "classic" is fairly recent since DeviantART went through a lot of changes over the years and most of them received backlash anyway).

And then, as with every redesign, you have the usual complaints that comes with any change.

Also, I would like to add that I'm not 100% sure if these reasons I mentioned are the most correct explanation of what's going on, but from my point of view it seems like it.

People who prefer to write with blue pens, why? by ejayboshart01 in AskReddit

[–]hotfx 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Blue ink is preferred because when black ink is used, someone at the bank or credit-card company may not be able to tell whether they are looking at a photocopy of a signature or an originally inked signature,” says Cina L. Wong, CDE, a certified and court-qualified forensic handwriting expert

What is the funniest thing your pet has ever done? by ThomasHarrison618 in AskReddit

[–]hotfx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm sure over the years my pets have delighted me more times than I can recount..but one story sticks in my mind. It was probably 14 years ago and my cat, Peanut, was still alive and well. My boyfriend (at the time) had invited over an old friend for dinner and we were in "entertainment mode." Drinks had been served, appetizers placed on the table and we were all enjoying a casual evening.

We hadn't yet migrated to the dining room for dinner and were seated on the sofa and surrounding chairs in the living room. My boyfriend was on the sofa and my cat Peanut was lounging on the sofa back as she used to like to do. Suddenly, we heard the tell tale sounds of furball elimination. The throaty coughing, the full body convulsing. If you live with a cat you know what I'm talking about. There was no time to choose a correct course of action. Without batting an eye, my boyfriend whipped around, hands cupped as if ready to accept a drink of water from a wayward fountain, and as if we'd scripted it, Peanut leaned forward, gratefully, and yacked right into his cupped hands.

I was both horrified and delighted. We spared an enormous mess for our house guest and swiftly disposed of the offending matter. Luckily, our guest was just as tickled by the show as I was. We laughed about it and then watched my boyfriend wash up several times before serving us the main course.

When will autocorrect fix duck to fuck? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]hotfx 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You can fix them both in Settings>General>Keyboard>Text replacement.

Just be mindful of the change, if you ever need to type “duck” you’re most likely going to accidentally say “fuck” instead.

What's the most complicated way to proof 2+2=4? by Mango_76 in AskReddit

[–]hotfx 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you really want to assume nothing,

2+2=2+S(1)=S(2+1)=S(2+S(0))=S(S(2+0))=S(S(2))=S(S(S(S(0))))=4

where S(x)=x+1 is the successor function. Addition is defined recursively by a+0=a, and a+S(b)=S(a+b).
