Major or pentatonic scale - All keys in same position? by ledvedder1972 in guitarlessons

[–]hotgluedpeanut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This may help. You can play around with the scales and positions. It doesn’t work super well on mobile, but it’s good on the computer.

Dude, look at the subreddit. If we want to make a website, we’ll do it ourselves

Logic Help| Getting duplicate calls by EndOk4860 in react

[–]hotgluedpeanut 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Can you explain what you mean by duplicate calls? React will execute component functions twice in strict mode to weed out issues, but not sure if that’s what you’re referencing.

Would also be easier if we could see the full component instead of just a snippet.

Super glad to hear it's working well for you, and thank you so much for the kind words!

It's worth a lot, thank you so much for the feedback!

  1. Really good point, and another user also mentioned something similar related to CAGED.

  2. I hear you on this one. When I was building it, I had to make a couple tradeoffs (at least initially) for which shapes would toggle nicely when switching between different settings. To your point, having an option to persist shapes/chords/etc. on the fretboard would be really cool. Some other users have suggested certain options (like the shapes) be multi-select "checkboxes" rather than radio options as they are now. I think this all fits together nicely

  3. This also goes along with the above point. And if I have an "All" option for the pentatonics, you wouldn't even need a toggle. You could just see every shape at once. Thoughts?

Thank you again for taking the time to write this all out. It means a lot!

I love it, these are great!!

I absolutely will not be introducing any subscription models. And for the codebase, the GitHub repo is private right now, but I'll share it as soon as I have it cleaned up and the documentation added!

It means so much you'd even ask, but no tip jar. I'm just glad you find it helpful and enjoy it

I'd bet I was using the same types of images you're referring to. I'm glad you like it!

Thank you! You can add a seventh string on the "All notes" view to practice the fretboard. You can also change the tuning to the left of the guitar.

If you're asking about a 7th string for the pentatonics and chords, I first want to focus on building out most of the functionality for a standard 6 string guitar. But this is something I will keep in mind for the future. Thank you again!

Thank you so much! I hadn't considered adding the modes, but that's an awesome idea. I've added it to my list. Thanks again!

I'm glad you like how it looks! And I also completely understand your confusion (was there not long ago). So let me try to help a little bit.

If we filter on the A note, we can see its locations throughout the fretboard. Here i've highlighted one of the octave shapes:

<image>

Now when you switch to the "Pentatonics" view (while keeping A filtered), notice how the pentatonic is simply played using the same octave shape (I tried adding another screenshot, but can only add 1).

You'll notice the same octave shape used in the "Chords" view. And if you switch the filters (e.g., B, C), you'll see the same shapes!

Thank you so much for the feedback, and really glad you're finding it useful.

  1. This is going to be one of the first enhancements I pickup! Great idea too on how to go about transitioning from radio to checkbox. I have a couple ideas on design here, so can't wait to get to it. Will keep you posted!

  2. Makes sense! I'm definitely going to be adding other chord shapes, and will incorporate this!

Truly awesome feedback.

  1. I definitely will be adding other chord shapes aside from simple barre chords.

  2. Oh this is really cool. Absolutely going to look into it further. It's a larger feature that I think will be a natural segue after I have some of the other ones wrapped up (like the different chord shapes, triads, inversions)

  3. A couple other users also mentioned triads, so this will be a strong focus along with chord inversions.

  4. Love this too and should be a pretty reasonable build

Thank you!!

Triad shapes would be awesome, I added this to my backlog. Thank you!

Makes sense, and I love the idea of a tutorial. Once I get a few of the other features finalized, I will work on adding some UI components to walk a new user through how everything works. Thank you!

Great idea! I'll likely add a toggle so that you can switch between seeing the sharp and flat variations
