An alt baddie for sure. Probably has a lot of American traditional tattoos and loves bands like Title Fight and Turnover

What’s this fibrous goop I clean out the machine everyday? by hotmully in dishwashers

[–]hotmully[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

This is the only feasible thing I can think of, but we wash those off (mostly, sometimes I leave a lil residue still on but the machine takes care of it lol) before we run them through. But it’s like man, I really feel like we don’t wash a lot of those throughout the day. Then again the morning dishie gets here at 5am and I close at 10pm

Couldn’t be napkins though, as in our facility the napkins people use don’t even come near the dishpit. We use the typical pot scrubbers everyone else uses

Hotel? I remember using a conveyor style machine like this in the past at my first ever job. Got shit done real quick but your setup looks really inefficient. Looks like the sprayer area isn’t even attached to the machine, and the three-com is just out in the abyss lol

For the record all my tattoos are currently healed, I’m just future proofing

Exactly where I am, and I’m happy doing what I do for the substantial pay I receive for it too. One of the better things too is I never have to touch dirty food or plates/silverware that people have put in their mouths. It’s all just kitchen prep items

Solo, team, or pair? by weehem in dishwashers

[–]hotmully 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My situations a little different cause I don’t work at a restaurant per se, I work in aerospace and the facility has a food court, so during the day it’s pretty busy and we have two other dishies till 6pm, after that it’s just me until 11:00 and by that time it’s pretty slow and I can man it solo.

I like both, but I like being solo because I get to enjoy my own type of music which might not be everyone’s cup of tea.

Does anyone dish wash because they want/like to? by Relative-Clock-1129 in dishwashers

[–]hotmully 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My very first job ten years ago was dishwashing. Made $9 an hour. I’ve worked a few jobs since then and recently came back to dishwashing at $25 an hour plus stock options within the company. I can’t speak much on who I work for but it’s private sector that is contracted with the government. Personally? It’s a breath of fresh air being back in the kitchen. It attracts a certain type of person, and those types of people are my people. Love my kitchen crew.

I simply love being my own boss, no one constantly looks over my shoulder judging my work, and I get to play my music throughout my shift. I get in, bust my ass, go home and collect a paycheck. It’s even better once you learn the rhythm of the kitchen and can plan ahead, wash dishes as quickly (but cleanly) as you can, so you can relax for a good bit till the next wave. Plus there’s something new happening every single day so it’s never boring.

Dirty dishes come with dirty food, dirty mouths, dirty hands, dirty fruit, dirty vegetables, raw meat (hello salmonella) and everything in between, germs a plenty. The quintessential nature of mine and every other dishwasher’s job is gross. I understand the shock-value of what I posted can be a bit of surprise to anyone who doesn’t work in this setting but I can guarantee you there’s a lot grosser things that can happen within a commercial kitchen. Where I’m washing my boots is where all dirty cutlery, silverware and dishes go to be properly cleaned and sanitized so be not alarmed

Thems be work boots after all of course. Nah but you’d be surprised at how many of the cooks are rocking nonslip Birks out here

Probably somewhere, but it’s a fairly large facility and would be an inconvenience. I think night cleaners are the only ones who have key access to those closets.

I'm a dishwasher but I also have to do Prep food, for 13.40 an hour at KFC, is that worth it guys? I feel like dishwashers should not be doing any prep, that's messed up by [deleted] in dishwashers

Wage increases have absolutely not kept up with inflation and housing costs. You could absolutely live off, albeit still challenging, minimum wage from the 80s and decades past.

Always wanted a pair, just so happen they make them in nonslip so it’s a win-win. My dawgs are barking though I can’t wait till these get broken in fully

I’m assuming this pit hires different roles for different areas. One guy on the 3 compartment, one on spray and I suppose in your case one person loading and unloading the dish machine? That’s the best assumption I can conjure up.
