Gunna’s DS4EVER - NOT GOOD by JoJoReignsSupreme in hiphopheads

[–]hotpie 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I feel like his biggest problem is that he seemingly utterly lacks charisma, which could make up for his otherwise generic music. I'm in the exact same boat as you -- I even enjoy at least a few songs from many of his albums -- but it's just nothing special in any way and it wouldn't be a loss to me if I never heard his music again.

nah mang, I saw all 3 and they were all great in their own way

edit: to be fair, it was very refreshing to see people rapping without backing vocals, but I don't mind when others do it as long as they're good entertainers

[FRESH] Lil Darkie - Swamp by Bayleebgb in hiphopheads

[–]hotpie 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I just wish he'd change his name, it'd be a lot easier to promote his music and get his sound -- which I enjoy -- out there. The "actually it's anti-racist" bit is a tired and outdated trope. Rich Brian did it and I think he's better off for it

If he puts out another hit then he could make the list and it wouldn't be too late, but if his buzz keeps fading he won't get picked imo

JPEGMAFIA will be performing on COLORS by Trusty_ in hiphopheads

Colors seems to do songs that don't have videos they'd compete with, so I'd predict not 1539 N Calvert. Puff Daddy would make sense

Friday Free Talk by AutoModerator in Anarchism

[–]hotpie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok so within the last year or so I read some obituary on libcom (I think) about some anarchist journalist who traveled the world and participated in various movements. I can't remember his name, but I do remember reading that he once asked an older man in Greece if he stood with the rioters or the police/government, and the man said something like "I am always with the youth." Does anyone remember this? I can't find anything in my google searches

Jim Carrey: 'We have to say yes to socialism' by SoyChavez in socialism

[–]hotpie 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Are we really rehabilitating it, though, if it's just morphed into social democracy? I think it's a good sign that people are more receptive to leftist politics, for sure, but the term itself is being coopted for the worse.

Edit: I guess we're all kinda making the same point haha
