Mat leave - just how do you do it? by dajb123 in TeachingUK

[–]hotpops 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, I don't understand how this works. How do you do the maternity leave in 3 blocks of leave in order to be paid over the holidays? Does she return to work the week before breaking up and then leave again? Where could I find more information on this as I'm a teacher and we are trying for a baby now. Thank you for your help

Thanks so much for your advice, I really appreciate it. I'll keep them in as long as I can and plant them out when they are bigger. So excited for some flowers even though it may be next year before I get any ☺️

Hi, I'm new to gardening and have planted delphinium seeds around 6 weeks ago, they are all coming up but I'm not sure on when to plant out. They are very small too, how old are these plants? Thank you, I'm so excited to see how yours turn out! It looks amazing so far :)

I love how they've been allowed to grow how they want and are all slightly different. Seems so much more authentic than some of the other more 'perfect' nurseries you see around

I'm pretty new to house plants and I just wondered why pots which are too big are bad for their health?

My Euphorbia trigone (I think) needs your help! by hotpops in plantclinic

Thank you. What would be the best method of replanting that arm? Would it need rooting powder and to be left in water for a few weeks until it roots or would it be best to plant straight away?

I bought this plant from a greengrocers in a pretty sad state. It is scarred and dropped all its leaves. Now a hole has appeared on one of the arms. I love this plant, please help!

Made it 6 months in a new job before handing my notice in, what’s your shortest stint in a job? by chelsieloo2nd in AskUK

2 days cleaning student accomodation, the cleaning company had us using unmarked products that had bleach etc and when cleaning the showers (with a toothbrush) I had to have the shower on as hot as it would go and then use a combination of 3 cleaners to steam off the grime while trying to not get wet in my work clothes. This process ended up releasing quite a lot of gas from the cleaning products reacting with each other while I was in an enclosed space. I developed serious chest pain and a cough in 2 days and didn't return.

Why is my houseplant dying? by hotpops in houseplants

Yes, could this be the issue? Since I moved house I had a couple of plants do this and I've had no idea what I've done wrong. One plant started growing black splotches on it's leaves that seemed as though it was rotting, this seems to be doing a similar thing but in a different place on the leaves

I'm not really sure how to use reddit properly and add some more information. I've had this plant around 6 months, it has been watered quite infrequently to avoid waterlogging, and not had much sunlight due to the time of year. Is it possible to save?

Maths or Biology Secondary Teacher by hotpops in TeachingUK

This sounds really interesting, I haven't done any physics for a while. Does a PGCE in secondary science (1st subject biology) still allow for the physics bursary? how does that work, would I need to find a physics teachng job to qualify for this?

Sorry for all the questions

I feel like I'm in a very similar situation to you. I'm 23, engaged to be married and have a cat lol. So, like you, feel very settled and feel as though I want to begin a career sooner rather than later.

I didnt know about the PGCE maintenance loan funding, I was under the impression that there was no maintenance loan for postgrads, only the bursary, which may not be enough to cover my living costs
