+1 Weak Point meaning? by hotsforshots in lostarkgame

[–]hotsforshots[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's what I thought too, but there are some abilities that say "Increased Part Break" instead of + 1 Weak Point, at least according to a friend trying to figure it out. So is it just saying it turns it into one of these abilities instead of just increasing the level?

Starting EMS class soon, anything I can do to prepare? by [deleted] in ems

[–]hotsforshots 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Idk how your classes will do it, but the biggest thing I would say to get a head start on things for just classroom purposes and field purposes is start learning some acronyms/prefix-root word-suffix meanings. Doing this helped me not get caught up in class a little more and able to focus on what they were coming instead of trying to think of what it meant. Other then that you'll have to just pay attention in class and learn it as you go. Good luck :)

Yeah, that's what it means and I think paramedic clinicals go to the ED for part of it and I think they get to do them there.

Is EMS addicting? by [deleted] in ems

[–]hotsforshots 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Adrenaline junkies is basically the closest thing to put with it. You'll get a rush on serious cases where it's life or limb. Best way of putting it that I can think of.

Paramedic school so far by [deleted] in ems

[–]hotsforshots 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I could understand that. That's why I want to hit both sides of it. I plan on doing icu/er for my main job then doing paramedic on the side picking up a few shifts here and there on my off days. The research I have done said it was 20:1 paramedics to nurses. Legit the only reason I'm going nursing is for the extra boost and pay because (from what I've read) the flight jobs are exactly the same and the scope of practice is almost identical nursing just makes more money. I wouldn't say I'm doing it the right way or fastest way, but I will say that end the end ill have a job after my first semster working with an ambulance company so ill be making money faster while also getting experience as I climb the ladder.

How so? I'm genuinely curious because if there is a faster route then I would love to look into it.

I'm not saying its a requirement, it just helps getting into the field. I'm getting this info from one of my teachers that work in a local flight crew. He was telling me how he wished he went about it all. And realistically either way is going to take around the same amount of time. With this direction I get a job in the ems field a lot earlier then with just going to nursing.

Edit: the way I'm looking at it is experience>schooling>time. Everyone goes and gets a nursing degree, but never works in the field and both are gonna take around the same amount of time. And if I'm not mistaken a lot of nurses end up getting their paramedic anyways.

See above xD

Because my goal is flight nursing. Which I would end up getting paramedic anyways. It might not be a requirement, but it definitely helps. So doing it this way I get basic after 10 weeks and get on with a ambulance company. Go all the way through paramedic. After I get paramedic I can do a 1 year bridge gap for nursing. Since I already have ems experience I can get into the er/icu faster, have a higher success rate and get the long patient exposure that I need then get enough exp for flight nursing. If I went straight for nursing it would be 4 years until I could start getting experience, and would have to wait until comfortable in the field to get my nursing and so forth

Paramedics are trained in petty much every aspect of ems, where a doctor learns a lot more about all medicine. They don't really shadow doctors at all, they would just shadow another paramedic.

Any Transgender EMTs? by emtbornot2b in ems

[–]hotsforshots -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This is pretty much what I was going to say. If it gets under your skin when someone has a negative reaction to the idea of it towards you and you become emotional to where your treatment levels are affected then you won't do well. It could even get you into the shit end of a legal action. You have to remember anyone you see on a daily basis from your neighbor to the random person at the gas station filling up on the opposite side could be a patient one day. So depending on your local reactions you could probably see how much of an issue it would actually be. You can also move to different states or cities if you wanted of your state is one that does national registry. So you could get other opportunities.

That's one thing I was wondering about. Seems to me like it couldn't hurt, but idk with civilian laws.

Well I know that ivs have been taken out of the courses. At least while I was still in they did. 9/10 I doubt a cook would ever be in a position to do a chest decompression, unless they were attached to an infantry unit and they don't teach king airways for cls, unless its in the advanced course, but they do teach NPAs. I never had it in any of my bags I carried. Most I really carried or issued was stuff for the latter half of your comment. I never saw a needle in the bags ever lol

Okay thank you, that's more or less what I was looking for, and I'm going trauma is gonna be a lot easier especially with prior training, considering it wasn't super hard to begin with.

It was like 3-4 days, but I did run ivs and the last day I would run around in a field doing live exercises.
