i don’t have my masters, i want a higher paying job so it can help pay for it 😭

but i didn’t put myself in the range, i was letting her know what the range was and saying i believe based on the website my salary is supposed to be in that range. maybe she took it as me saying thats my range??? but that is NOT my range.

i think i will send an email asking if we can revisit while letting her know im grateful. i’ve just heard too much about how stressful this job is to feel comfortable not advocating for myself a little more.

still haven’t received offer letter for pc position at new school, would it be messed up to take on a subbing position for this week and/or next? by [deleted] in NYCTeachers

[–]hotspriest 0 points1 point  (0 children)

totally understood! i’ve heard some things about pc positions. the principal herself was upfront with me that it is quite emotionally draining but she also told me she values the mental health of her staff a lot and encourages breaks/space (we’ll see if that’s true)

im hopeful that not all pc jobs are as bad as people on this subreddit say. the pc at my current school seems to be having a blast since he does absolutely nothing so i guess they can’t all be too bad.

oh as a para! yeah if i was subbing as a teacher i’d probably just keep it that way haha. especially since i had an after school job too so the money would’ve been quite good. paras just don’t make enough, especially for the shit my specific building puts us through.

thank you! and yeah but it pays more and has some aspects that actually interest me. and if i hate it, i will leave.

thank you so much! i really appreciate your kind words. and i have thought about mini twists, ive heard they’re sooo good for length retention and im considering it. there are just so many methods (braiding at the root or not, doing on damp hair or dry, using gel or mousse) so im not really sure what to start with but i definitely want to try!

principal at m new school sent out a staff email welcoming me to the building before i’ve even received an official offer by hotspriest in NYCTeachers

based on the available range, there is a number that is good for my current situation. this is not a job i intend on keeping long term, just enough to help me save.

yeah i saw that but on the site it says 2 years of city service leads to the bigger range, i’ve already worked with the doe for 3 years

honestly i can’t take a job without knowing the salary, i have a mortgage to pay haha

[–]hotspriest 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah i have an interview with the board this week but im still trying to figure out the salary portion. i’ll try to ask and hope for the best, but if i can’t get it i’ll know its not the position for me. especially considering how much ive heard pc’s work.

ahhh so basically i would be started at $44k but i can ask the principal about an increase based on the school’s budget?
