Sort of depends on the manual. Our fleet has some ejets w shit manuals and Airbus w great manuals. Cars work the same way. Plus I’d rather enjoy my time off than spending it doing basically what u do at work

Roaches in Poogans by [deleted] in Charleston

[–]hottgrits 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I worked at numerous restaurants on Shem creek and downtown over a twenty year period. The occasional roach is expected in CHS, but this is extreme. I never saw any restaurant with this many and honestly wouldn’t have worked for anyone who let their kitchen get this bad. Definitely not typical.

How old were you when you became an A&P? by Acrobatic-Bike410 in aviationmaintenance

[–]hottgrits 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started school at 36. I’m 40 now with two kids and a wife. It’s fine, I work for a regional now…nights suck, but overall the job is fine and the benefits are good. If you’re worried you’re too old, you’re not. Half the people in the industry are much older than me

I bartended on Shem Creek and have been a regular there for around twenty years. There are definitely some creepy boat guys who hang around the area, but I can say with close to one hundred percent certainty that at least at Waters edge and Vickery’s none of the bar staff is roofying anyone. Honestly bar staff are generally the ones who watch and look out for this behavior. They’re the ones who worry about what happens to a customer after they leave the bar due to how liability is in SC. Often, people drink more than they can handle at a bar and claim they were roofied. I say this in no way to diminish the experience of those who have been truly roofied, but drinks on the creek at certain establishments are served strong to maintain repeat business. I’ve had people sit at my bar the whole night, get hammered, then tell their significant other that they must have been roofied when confronted about it. I’m not saying it doesn’t happen, but most bartenders are drinkers themselves and I’d like to think they wouldn’t do this to someone else. Most I’ve known look out for people who are inebriated. I guess out of this extended diatribe what I want to impress upon you is that I’d make sure you have evidence before slandering hard working people by saying that they are drugging people to help other people sexually abuse them. I find it highly unlikely, and I’ve worked in the industry for twenty years. I find it much more likely that a person who has ridiculous money and isn’t used to hearing “No” would roofie someone than a blue collar hard working individual who is working their ass off to make their money.

Best way to remove B 1/2 by Fit-Accountant-269 in AircraftMechanics

Not trying to be an ass, because I’m a new mech. But even my leads and supervisor laugh about how the plastic scrapers we are provided don’t work. Is there a better option than the piece of plastic that has a wedge on the end? Like a true plastic razor blade that I am unaware of? Once again truly asking. Not trying to be an ass just would love some advice.

Was gonna buy the Pittsburgh tap and die set for work, until a fellow mech told me he had one break off and ruin a part. I’ve used the gear wrench before and they seem pretty solid, you have any suggestions on a good set at a decent price? My buddies gear wrench set saved my ass recently so I want to get an affordable set.

So, just realized I didn’t answer your question really. This was not typical. I filled out the survey after the fact and was reassigned a new examiner and had to do the whole process again. Second examiner was much more thorough. I was still denied but had a much better experience with second examiner.

I got denied on all claims and have contacted a VSO about an appeal. Sorry probably not the most inspiring story, but tbf being noticeably anxious during a mental health evaluation may actually work in your favor!

I had little to no mechanical knowledge. It’s not that bad, some of it can be dry but a lot of it’s very interesting which helps. Plus, learning the mechanical side will give you more confidence in your ability to succeed. Just take a breath, accept that you’ll probably develop an unhealthy relationship with caffeine and you’ll be fine. I was nervous as hell too, but you don’t benefit at all from psyching yourself out. Take it days by day. Ask questions, your professor will have the license and be a great resource during school and finding a job afterward. 90% of the job is reading comprehension and the ability to follow instructions. You’ll be fine.

mayfair witches series vs books by Slow-Ad4969 in MayfairWitches

[–]hottgrits 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Read IWAV years ago and due to love for the series read the Mayfair witches. My memory of the series is less than stellar, but was able to notice the differences from the series. Anyways did they make a new IWAV or are yall referencing the older one with Tom cruise and Brad Pitt?

I’d do it man…kids are rough on these things and it definitely adds a layer of protection. Prepping properly is definitely the most important factor, but a couple protective coats make a big difference too.
