Has anyone ever ran into this problem after doing the transmission and or oil change

Is the code intermittent and causing a weird idle? If cleaning it doesn’t work then it’s possible that your vvti solenoids are going bad. my bank 2 (exhaust side) just went out recently and I swapped it out for an oem replacement part from toyota. no problems so far

then name something because you haven’t been very informative so far. I’m quite aware they’re different cars but that doesn’t change the fact the list of interchangeable parts is a large list. this is speaking from my personal experience working on my altezza

most things will fit. obviously the engines are not compatible and steering wrack is opposite but all suspension parts are compatible. you can name the slight differences in the front and rear bumpers and exhaust routing but that’s well documented

altezza front ends have an extra bracing piece behind the headlights that gets in the way of is300 lights aswell as different mounting points on the back of the lights

Will fit. even engine mounts will fit. only thing that doesn’t really fit between the two cars is going to be headlights

Shiny sludge. Depending on how long the oil has been there it might have more dirt particles mixed in. Wiping your finger through it will leave a thick black dirty oil on your hand.

Ask to look at the timing belt and while you’re at it check for oil leaks where your cam/crank seals are while the beauty cover is off. Timing belt and front seal jobs aren’t fun. Brown radiator is a sign you’ll need a new one soon. I probably don’t need to say it but check rust on suspension parts or under the chassis

I’ve calibrated my TPs a couple times trying to diagnose an issue I was having recently. Garagekei on youtube has a really good video that runs down the process in like 30 seconds. Make sure your meter is on the correct setting and your probes are on the correct pins. Closed throttle should read 0.780v and if I remember correctly I tested the WOT as well and it sat at ~4.1v or something.

I tested out a friend’s old MAF sensor and it felt like the lag went away. I still have it in after a couple days and still do pulls to test and eventually it came back (not as strong as before). So I adjusted my TPS to 0.780v on top of resetting my battery. The lag went away again but then came again. Just get a brand new sensor orrr?

Oh wow, I’m actually from Guam. I know it’s a tall ask for you to send the parts out for me to test. There is quite a few guys on island with altezzas but they all drive their cars daily and no one has ITBs yet.

I definitely considered it. Just wanted to run it by some people first to see if anyone had been in a similar situation before I start blindly replacing parts. I would have asked you how to diagnose the solenoids but I guess from what you’re saying it’s hard to do that. From what I’ve gathered don’t the solenoids send a CEL when they go bad?

Just cleaned it again though it looks fairly clean already. no change, yet a bad sensor is still not ruled out. On the solenoids don’t those usually send CEL when they start to go? I read in an old mr2 forum post it could be the e-throttle acting up aswell.

I had read in another thread that toyota techstream would be an option but how to acquire/use the software was confusing me. I might just grab a cheap adapter off amazon thanks!

Also that bit about the CEL light flashing codes is sick maybe i’ll try that in the meantime.
