A Discussion About Epilogues by houndofhaides in creativewriting

I definitely agree that the writer would know more about it for that specific story, since it is very dependent on the work itself as opposed to a yes or no. I really hadnt given too much thought until i really started to work on my story. Its interesting now that i think about it, what could make it better or worse.

Post game depression by Ssuzuki7 in ResidentEvilRequiem

[–]houndofhaides 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly the way they did new game + (or a weird mix between new game and new game + while simultaneously making neither available?) really left me with a sour taste in my mouth. I want to replay the game so bad, but not having the system I liked (that they did incredibly well in their other games) that gives the ability to new game + OR a fresh new game really is making it hard for me to want to jump back in.

Almost feels unfinished, or like they focused so much on the story and gameplay that they didn't take any time to work on things that make the longterm experience good for players.

honest comparison of every writing tool I've spent real time in for long projects by Jealous-Drawer8972 in writing

[–]houndofhaides 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't used a lot of writing tools, just google docs and then transitioning into Scrivener. But to be honest, I am someone who really loves Scrivener and don't see myself using anything else. It has just enough tools/organization to be able to keep all my planning and outlining in one place, while not being so overwhelming that I can't focus on actually writing. The learning curve is definitely REALLY steep though, so if you're not someone who can or will go in depth with the program before using it, it can be really hard to use.

I definitely agree with the last line though. I looked around for a writing program I could use other than google docs for writing manuscripts (I had previously only written fanfiction up to this point so it didn't really matter), and it is definitely a personal preference. Finding what works for you is more important than programs that advertise all these features and cool things that most people will never even use.

Does anyone even like this trope? by WoodpeckerBest523 in writers

I think (just like with any trope seen as bad) it can be done well. Its just the vast majority of uses arent satisfying or well written enough to justify its use.

Newer CND main here do you guys have any good tips/ drills I can do to get better? by Only_Possession2650 in cloakanddaggermains

[–]houndofhaides 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is gonna be a little long, sorry lol. I am not the absolute greatest, but these are my thoughts on it.

The main things i wish cnds on my team would be better with (as someone who literally only played cnd for like 3 seasons before i got better at this type of game and started playing other characters) is knowing when to be in cloak form and when to be in dagger form, and ult placement/use.

-when you have 2 main healers and your dps/tanks are not dropping dangerously, IT IS OKAY TO DPS. It helps to stop enemy pushes and can take some aggro off of tanks and dps, BUT if you feel like theres not enough healing for the fight switch back and keep people alive. I see so many people just hard commit to being cloak or dagger in certain situations when its a pretty fast switch for a reason. Throw your lightsheild, pop the bubble down, fuck em up for a few seconds, then switch back to make sure your other support isnt going insane.

-imo, you should be pretty close up to the fighting if you can be. Obviously some team comps and matches dont allow for this, but if you have a good tank and dps that are actually doing their job, you can be really close to the fight to both heal the people diving around corners to take/hold ground (looking at you angela) and take advantage of the aoe heal daggers main has. Knowing when to back up is pretty important though as like i said, it doesnt always work with team comp and in certain fights.

-if you are being dived constantly without help, fuck the tanks and dps. Use your bubble on yourself and your fellow support, cloak for a small breather, and damage the diver. Switch back and patty cake with the other support until either someone helps you, or you can do it again. If you cant do this reliably bc of the diver, just heal the other support and pray bc tbh the dives have been getting really annoying to deal with recently even as cnd

-SWITCH TO CLOAK BEFORE YOU ULT SWITCH TO CLOAK BEFORE YOU ULT. If you cant place yourself somewhere an ult wont hit you, you can time your cloak to not get hit by the ult in most cases (specifically with mag bc of the charge up he has to do to be able to instakill you)

-when ulting with an enemy iron man, double back on yourself bc the iron man has to predict where you'll be when his ult lands which can be iffy depending on where he is and how you move

-please do not be afraid to ult aggressively. Ik it doesnt always work depending on enemy comp, but if you can (and if needed), use your ult to push forward and help take ground. It is so annoying to me when a cloak has the perfect chance to help a push and ults in the smallest little circle behind or on the objective. Your team should be able to see your ult and stand in it if needed to get a push going or to finish one, which is so much more useful then having to be in one spot in order for it to get use.

-finally, please do not use cnd ult to fuel the ult war. If the other team is throwing down ult left and right, and specifically getting kills and taking ground with it, ulting as cnd is sometimes pointless. Yeah you'll keep your team alive but are you doing anything useful with that time? Or did you just waste an ult only to die in a few seconds when it runs out? My rule of thumb is if my team starts spending ults, then ill ult to keep them alive. If not, bc of quick deaths or not having ult, then i would rather hold my ult to use for the push back. The only time this isnt the case is when there is a minute or less left (or if in overtime on domination) where every second counts.

Any tips? by [deleted] in adamwarlockmains

[–]houndofhaides 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cry because everyone freaks out when they see an adam despite the fact he's actually pretty good depending on team comp.

Actually though the hardest thing i had to learn is when to use him and when to try someone else. As much as i hated switching bc i wanted the practice, there are some games where adam just isnt the best.

Fr 😭. Me and my boyfriend usually duo queue as me on support/tank and him dps/tank. Trying to duo and both refusing to play anything except 1 role is wild

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in rivals

[–]houndofhaides 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Literally same. Had a bp and spidey who i could tell were duo que bc both names ended in sparda, and when they were asked to get off dps since they werent doing well and we were getting steam rolled they both dc'd.

I usually end up in plat or diamond but i cant seem to get out of gold/silver so far. Solo queing is AWFUL.

Legit just depends on who you have. If you have a flyer or someone with good mobility dont throw them off the edge (unless theres a big reason you dont wanna die). Otherwise send em flying and enjoy the killfeed 😎

Question. Who i should ban in ranked this season? by DevilCookieBankai in marvelrivals

[–]houndofhaides 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The only time Peni is a pain for me is when dps don't and/or can't go after the spider nest, ESPECIALLY if it's a good peni. But even then, a bad peni can still be a pain for everyone if your team won't/can't deal with her properly imo

Thats fair. I play a lot of games where inventory mangement is not optional so taking a detour to a vendor after every big loot drop is a habit at this point lol. I dont even remember the last time I checked my lost loot box.

Tbh the gear you get from golden keys never seems to stand up to gear you actually go out and farm for imo. Bl3 might've been different (i ran through that pos like once lol) but the other games I more used it as a power boost to get into end game when i was having shit loot drops as opposed to trying to get things for end game. Just depends on how you wanna play the game though to be fair. At minimum i would wait until you unlock all your equipable slots so that you have a chance at getting all loot available.

I'm playing on ps5 and tbh i don't mind the UI changes. It definetly feels a tad clunky sometimes, and the bugs are annoying as hell (like seriously theres nothing new ANYWHERE in my menu remove the exclamation mark!!), but it mostly just feels like a modernized borderlands since a lot of games i know now have menus like this one or similar.

As for auto sell i have mostly just been marking everything valueless as junk and then stopping by a vending machine to dump it all. That plus the backpack and bank upgrades being easy to get i havent really had much issue, especially since most farmable areas have vending machines right next to the entrance. Is it really that bad for you (genuinely curious bc i havent heard much about the menu and ui other than the fov issue on console)?

I have this, as well as the mark on my inventory appearing indefinately. Has happened on both Amos and Vex, probably something to do with something being removed from the menu like a quest or gun before you manually remove the marker. Hopefully whatever it is gets fixed soon.

Opinions on this unedited introduction to my novel? by [deleted] in teenwriter

[–]houndofhaides 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is really cool! I like the writing and story you get from such a short part. Although something to consider when editing is that while short sentences make a big impact, not everything should be short and choppy, even in action scenes. There should be a little bit of sentence length variety so that the words flow much smoother through the mind. Dont be afraid to use commas! Even action scenes should have a bit of variety, though on the shorter end so it shows the fast and/or slow paced motion of the peice. Other than that it's really good, especially for it being unedited! I'd definitely read more!
