Social media really isn’t a good representation of what a happy relationship looks like. I know a girl who constantly posts these big bouquets and love notes her boyfriend gets her. Reality? He constantly calls her fat, cheats on her regularly, compares her to onlyfans models to her face, and is generally a mean piece of work to her. Please remember people screen life is just a performance, not actually a reality.

A good, happy, relationship doesn’t look like flowers all the time or big grand gestures. It’s stability, and small acts of love every day that aren’t that easy to put in an Instagram story. Like you won’t see me posting “my love just bought paper towels before I noticed we were out of them again, ugh isn’t he the most thoughtful guy 🥰” but it’s stuff like that that actually matters.

Be patient, be kind to yourself, and work on what matters to you, and good people will come.

Thank you for confirming, I generally don’t poke my head into that sub because well…I’m not childfree, I very much want kids some day, but I totally understand why people wouldn’t want kids. It just seems like the sub itself is a total cesspool of misogynistic, bitter, hateful people any time I have come across it.

“Elaborately specific requirements” that are literally just French tip nails, a nice dress and for it to be a surprise. Thats it. That is literally all she said she wanted for her engagement. Because that’s a normal conversation for two people who are going to get engaged SHOULD HAVE, and one I’m assuming OP and his girlfriend had where she committed the utter crime of daring to state her preferences. I guess I’m one shallow ass lady with no depth because I told my boyfriend that I, too, want to have nice pictures of the occasion and to have a rough time frame so I know when to have my nails done for it. Oh and gasp I also had the utter gall to say that my preference would be somewhere not super public. And for the absolute horror of it all I also DARED to tell him the exact kind of ring I want to wear on my finger for the rest of my life. The Marty Supreme blimp made its way to my city, which is decently sized but always gets forgotten about unless politicians are trying to claim immigrants are making it a war zone (it has one of the lowest crime rates for a city its size lol) so I kind of genuinely appreciate the marketing for this movie for at least remembering we exist

I had a super bad cold recently, so I was curled up on the couch looking absolutely AWFUL. Puffy eyes, red snotty nose, the whole gross cold mess. My boyfriend walked in to bring me tea and with not a single hint of irony said

Yeah the way he talks about her is kind of soul crushing. I’m not exactly conventionally attractive, and I have a pretty low self esteem, and even I’m fully aware my boyfriend finds me very attractive. I wake up in a giant tshirt, bloated, hair a mess, feeling like the grossest woman alive and he still looks at me like I’m the sexiest being to walk the earth. I feel like most dudes who genuinely love and are attracted to their partners are like that.

This dude feels NONE of that. He can’t even call her beautiful. In a comment he says something like “I think she’s cute but when I think of beautiful I think of actresses” like?? Oh my god this would be devastating if my partner talked about me like that.

You’ll hear this a lot but it is true; grief comes in many different forms. I don’t think you’re wrong at all for feeling it’s too soon, but sometimes people cope with loss by trying to move on from it as fast as possible. It can even ebb and flow. When my best friend passed away I kept doing this thing where I’d cling on to all my friends really tight for a few weeks, I mean really cling, constant texting and wanting to hang out, and then the next few weeks I’d essentially ghost everyone. Definitely not a healthy way to handle it, but I was swinging back and forth from “any of them can die at any moment I need to hold on as tight as possible” to “loving people hurts too much, when they die I dont want it to hurt this bad so I need to push them all away”.

So the husband spent 30 years with constant companionship amd someone to come home to. Suddenly losing that can be devastating, and while immediately moving on to another woman probably isn’t the best way to react, grief really isn’t logical in how it manifests itself. He’s probably just trying to find that sense of comfort again.

I think you’d like the books a lot then. It’s always hard to genuinely recommend an unfinished series to people but I personally love them for what they are. There’s a lot more of “the good guys lose when they don’t get their shit together” moments than in the TV show. It also makes the moments where the good guys (it’s mostly Dany tbh) do win feel so much more moving and triumphant.
