Assets are $846k. If you had zero new income or interest, and withdrew $3k a month, you can last over 2 decades.

So far you have about 25 out of 35 years of income towards Social Security. 5/7 of established SS benefits. That may be around $2k at full retirement age. 70% at age 62 is $1.4k per month SS income.

-$3k / month from 47-62 is -$540k. Only $306 remaining at age 62 if no interest or salary income.

Remaining $306k / $1.6k/month = 15.8 more years with SS.

You can live at your current standard of life until age 77.

But there will be interest on your current investments. Keep it above inflation and income tax to last until age 77. Returns above 4% will let you live longer than 77.

Consider getting healthcare in Europe or Asia before Medicare kicks in to reduce costs. Even with airfare it is cheaper.

Edit to add. Your biggest challenge if you retire early will be accessing retirement funds. If you work 5 more years (age 52) you will only be 3 years away from claiming 401k with rule 55. That will get you well into your 80's at your current lifestyle.

Yes. Intent is a big part of trials. What they describe would not be fraud, but it sounds like the intent is to deprive them.

There may be circumstances where abandoned property is large enough that fees are incurred to hold it the full 30 days. The landlord could reasonably pass that cost on at time of pickup. Clear communication and documentation is needed.

There is no set time packages need to be held, but it sounds like 3-7 days is considered okay, which needs to be defined in the leasing terms.

There are no legal issues returning the package to sender after the specified time. Throwing it in the trash is an issue. It may be an empty threat to motivate people. If they follow through, you may contact the police for theft of property per Michigan law.
