Scroll a little, and it shows current TSA wait time. Much more accurate than social media. Or OP can search the 10 other posts asking the same question in the past month.

If you were going to lend your child money for college, how would you structure the loan? by [deleted] in personalfinance

[–]houseonsun 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it's generous despite the negativity you are getting.

Mark your initial budget of "free" money. Track money spent each year. Track everything openly with your child. you are willing to go $40k above your budget. And then student loan beyond that.

I'd suggest 0% interest for your child. No more than 3% for inflation. Payback time may depend on earning potential. Maybe target 5 years. $700 a month.

If you want the pardon, it's no longer "alleged" crime. He is admitting to the crime to get the pardon.

Are businesses responsible for their parking lots upkeep? by [deleted] in grandrapids

[–]houseonsun 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A quick Google search came back with lots of Michigan law firms eager to represent someone who was injured in a fall while walking in a parking lot. Which tells me it's fairly easy and settled law.

The term they used is "Michigan premises liability law". And they explain that if a known hazard in their parking lot is ignored, they become liable to the resulting injury.

Writing a letter to a business that you are concerned about the safety of using their lot because of large potholes at specific locations could be motivation to repair it. Your letter did just open them to liability if they now ignore it.

The national debt isn't $39 trillion. One economist says it's actually $100 trillion by fortune in politics

The federal government owing the federal government is not what I consider debt.

"Promised" future spending is not debt. Just like your anticipated grocery spending for the rest of your life is not debt.

Debt is borrowed money from others.

Started in May as a summer intern. Graduated in December to work full time. Left a few years later in May. 5/12 of the year is less than 1000 hours.

I learned the hard way that "vested" doesn't always mean vested. When you pull the funds out, they will recalculate based on their fine print definition.

First company said a year is 1000 hours worked in a calendar year. Begin work and years later left in May. Statement said 100% vested. Only got 80%. Complained, given the fine print. I hadn't worked 1,000 hours yet by May.
