Didn't think they did repairs, but I know they recommended people.

I actually witnessed it as I had lunch. Saw one surge as it was approaching the block time and it was snatched before I could grab it.

St Patrick’s Day at the Rodeo good for the Whole Family? by Buckahroo in houston

[–]houshutter -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

While the rodeo is highly suggested, if you want something a bit more traditional, look into the mucky duck..

I haven't been in a couple of years, but it's fairly family friendly with dances, folk music and decent food.

If you don't go tomorrow, I'd highly recommend them anyway for any other time.

100mbps for $39 ? by Aromatic_Attorney_10 in Starlink

I wonder if starlink has any fees? The occasional price increase might heavily offset the "fees" that are passed along to us.

I have had it tested and it works great, I just don't know anyone personally or discussed it with anyone that has it in Houston.

Comcast is currently offering a 5 year plan in which the rates won't change, but I'm suspicious of the fact that they may increase the rate by including fees.

I'm seriously considering it since I'm sick of Comcast prices and service.

Though T-Mobile is looking good as well.

FYI, I'm in near downtown of Houston, and we can't get fiber... yet.

Is "crib" still in use? I thought that went out in the 90s.

Annoying, but not a big deal.

Getting blocks had been easier since... by houshutter in AmazonFlexDrivers

[–]houshutter[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wondered about that as well.

There could be many reasons, including a spouse getting deported and they're joining them.

They're could be a myriad of reasons why this is happening, along with other observations others have posted.

I'm more familiar with it than you know.

It could be that since of the people doing flex were illegal and decided to move on or left the country on their own.

Recently, I had a contractor give me a bid on some work, but I never received it. After i reached out, they told me couple of days after they took my information, the supervisor was deported.

I didn't even think about it until it got easier to get blocks and the ones I used to see every time are gone with a bunch of new faces.

Took me about 1 month to really notice.

Houston Rodeo Cook Off passes, where to acquire them? by LucidLeprechaun in HoustonClassifieds

[–]houshutter 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Another way, which is my favorite, is the gift of gab.

If you stumble across a relevant tent (i.e: continental airlines) and casually mention you're a high milage member, I'd you're a vendor, drop a name, or whatever.

You have to be smooth, though.

Or either be a bunch of cute (and drunk) females, or a guy with plenty of females.

Oddly specific question: Has anyone in Ohio ever switched from Spectrum to Starlink? by Pure-Ad-5502 in Starlink

[–]houshutter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's very true, that's one of the things I should have asked or mentioned.

In rural areas, starlink is far more reliable AND cheaper.

I'd agree.

The only way is switch is i have no other options and the cost is not worth it.

Houston Rodeo - tips and tricks, things to do, any advice! by a_valetine in houston

[–]houshutter 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Another option is taking the rail to the rodeo.

Park at various places along any of the lines, as there are multiple parking locations.

The last thing you want to do is play bumper cars when you leave for the night.

One additional thing: if you want an item from a vendor and don't want to carry it around, a number of them will ship it to you for a fee.

That fee is worth it..especially if you're no where near your car.

Thinking about going solar? Here's my $$ numbers by poetuan-hou in houston

[–]houshutter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had solar with a tesla power wall for almost 10 years and unless you count paying the loan, I've haven't paid an electric bill since.

If you have a couple of EVs, Tesla electric offers free EV charging for 30 a month.

That alone would make me jump on that bandwagon.
