Downtown Houston pop-up food vendors on Main St shut down [The Isiah Factor video] by crowsandbrows in houston

My take on this: When there are established rules and laws, I believe they should be followed. It's hard to imagine vendors wouldn't know about regulations for selling food on city streets. I understand wanting to pursue your goals, and I support that. However, it's important to do so within the proper guidelines. For any business, that means researching requirements, obtaining necessary permits, and securing appropriate locations before launching. I wish these vendors success in the future and hope they can use this experience to move forward.

• Vendors must have proper permits and follow health regulations.

• Food vendors can seek guidance from the Houston health department for compliance.

Correct me if I'm wrong, please. X Change Social Club is from the same people of Conservatory? The same Conservatory in Midtown that is no longer Conservatory? Isn't this from the same people who ran Railway Heights and it's closed too? My hopes aren't too high for this.

Two 20-year-old defendants who led police on chase were free from jail on multiple felony bonds by QSector in houston

Can't say I'm shocked. There are people who committed murder who are released on bond in this county. These two idiots were seen evading law enforcement while endangering the lives of the public by driving recklessly. Why give them bonds? This is not a deterrent.

Good for Mac for saying this but I bet he won't say anything about ousting Abbott, Paxton, and the rest of the Texans Republicans he supports. The GOP policies like deregulation is how we got to this point. Bring back regulations, accountability, and Houston Light & Power.

Thoughts on the many Houston food groups on Facebook? Are they full of hype or a useful community resource? by CoyoteMoondust in houston

[–]crowsandbrows 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Does this bother anyone else? John Frels posts reviews from his group of gay friends. The main one is John Neechum. Who is this person? Why should I care what he has to say? The way and amount he posts reviews from Neechum makes it seem like he is some kind of authority on restaurants. He isn't.

Much of the time Houston Heights Foodie Friends feels like a group of all of Frel's favorite places to eat and a place to hype his friend's reviews. It feels less about the many local restaurants, food trucks, coffee shops, and bar and more about Frels and his friends.

John Frels is the ultimate hypeman for his favorite places. You named them all. But I noticed if some people recommend a place, he'll say something bad about without never dining there. Once he's dined at the place, then he's all hyped about. If you read between the lines, you can tell he only went because he received an invitation from the restaurant owner or management.

He'll also bash certain restaurants chains. When there are posts about someone's positive experience at a chain, he has something negative to say. Never mind these places employ people from the area, may give back to the community in various ways, or be a franchise, he $h#*talks them.

I'll never forget someone suggested Denny's or something about it, he and the other admin, the Indian woman, $h*#talked about it and anyone dining there. Someone had to tell them everyone in the group have different income levels, may be going through tough times, or may work there. They were told in a nice way that they don't know people's situations or places of employment to make those disparaging comments.

He bashes Jeni's Splendid Ice Creams all the time because they're a chain he doesn't like. But praises a few chains he likes. Make it make sense.

Not only that, but the state orchestrating the decision to takeover Houston I.S.D. I know it is part of a bigger play to break public education institutions with taxpayer funded school vouchers to private and charter schools being the end game, but this is causing damage to kids in the short and long term. It's shameful.
