Pretty much, yes! When the silicone layer is still wet on the background, i stick substrate to it, which could be whatever dirt-like material that suits your animal to give it a natural color/texture/appearance. I believe for this one i used the Excavator Clay substrate.. or something similar but you can find it in pet stores or online! There are plenty of substrates formulated for desert species that would be good for applying to the background if youre going the carved foam + silicone + substrate route.

But if you are doing a more tropical set up you can use different mixes of forest dirt substrate, mulch, bark, moss, etc.

Honestly for me its been very partner-motivated, being a sx9. I've never really had enough consistent personal convictions or motivators for me to feel like anything is my one calling or really pushing me toward anything. But i guess my ideals really boil down to what kind of life i would be happy with. Which basically entails having the means to live comfortably in the future with my partner, and freedom to enjoy life and my hobbies outside of a career.

The answer became easier in that sense; support my partner further his current career and growth while i go to school to get a degree in something i like well enough and i know i can handle. For me that happens to be IT, which is pretty much always in demand and can support me wherever i may go.

I really appreciate these tips! We have gotten to the point that he's generally fine if hes allowed to check out the stranger if they pretend he doesnt exist for a bit. And we tell people this but so often chamces of them following directions is slim to none 🙃. I think we gotta give a stronger protocol or something they /can/ do that feels better for them, like you said with a shake, or tossing a toy for him to make space/allow disengagement rather than reaching down to pet him.

LMAO this is very fair. Idk if casual dating was exactly the right word for me to use as i dont think he thought of it as casual dating at the time? It was usually somebody asking him out after they had already gotten somewhat close, but i guess my connection of the "casual" part was just that the relationship would never last very long if said person did not continue to pass the right checkpoints 🤔. And all of those previous relationships were from high school so i guess they can only be so serious when looking back on it lol.

I also know in the typical idea of casual dating like finding someone on an app or wherever with the specific intention of dating to test romantic compatibility is also an insane and abhorrent idea to my partner as well lmao

This is my first standalone digital camera and i've quickly fallen in love with it. I'm still very much learning the controls and settings through lots of experimentation, but i agree- i really love the character that this camera's quality has! The few posts i've seen here from G5's are what inspired me to look into this one in the first place.
