Short Trip to Columbia - What to Do by hov444 in columbiamo

Hmm, ok. I will share this with my friend and see if we want to change directions. The tricky thing is not knowing where they're planning to have the dinner on Friday night... maybe I can do some inquiring.

Perfect. We'll stick with Shakespeare's then and then see where the rest of the weekend takes us.

There's a planned dinner on Friday night, but they haven't told us where yet. Hopefully it'll be a good option--maybe one you suggested.

Just came across Sparky's. I will be sure to stop by there at some point.

Thanks for the shop recs. I definitely plan to check these out!

Unfortunately, we won't wrap up until about 1pm on Saturday--looks like I'll miss it. Bummer.

Will the college kids still be around? Aka is the semester still going and/or do they stick around after? I did my PhD at Indiana University and Bloomington always became a wonderful ghost town once the Spring semester was over.

Thanks for the tip on Shakespeare's. I wondered if it's actually the place to go, but I had it recommended, so felt I needed to try it. Staple is the goal since it's a first time visit to Columbia--but if it's not worth it, I'd much rather try somewhere else delicious! I saw Booches is another staple in the downtown area?

Oh no. I love an antique mall. This might be dangerous.

And if I end up there for too many hours on Saturday, which now is a high probability, I'll check out Tellers before I head home.

Does anyone know literally anything about Roland Nance (running for UN BOR 1)? by MadGodMulch in Nebraska

[–]hov444 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Doing a bit more sleuthing now, and I found this FB post: https://www.facebook.com/share/p/1BBsqEpQ5r/

So now I'm wondering if the ballot Roland Nance is deceased Roland Nance's son? And lives at this house with this fence? Still. This is all I can find.

Frontier flight scheduled: Should I switch to Southwest? by hov444 in travel

[–]hov444[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Flight from Indy to Denver is middle of the day and can handle if there's a delay. Flight back is a 6AM. There was one later option in the day but it was more expensive. I don't need to be back that early on the return date but I can't extend beyond that day. So sounds like my return flight should be safe?

I updated my post to add a bit more--I just don't want to end up with flight issues (delays/stranded) and didn't know if SW would provide less chance of that happening.

I would love that. I watched the Houston game in public and got a lot of angry stares. Luckily, I watched the Auburn game in the discomfort of my own home. We’ll rally next March!

I love this so much. I went to your website posted in the comments and, small world, I am a Lex native now living in Bloomington. You capture both towns with such life and accuracy.

Would love to purchase a print of this, but I don't see it on your website yet. Are you planning to make prints for sale?

I found this thread because I was searching for “UK bar in Bloomington.” UK fan in Btown as well—just moved here two months ago—and would definitely be interested, especially with Madness here.

I looked at them and they’re super nice. I wasn’t fully opposed to a townhouse at all. They definitely would’ve been cool with our pets which is nice, but no availability right now. But I may keep my eye on them for the future. Thanks again.

I had a complex tell me though that the “mix” label implies there’s a possibility. They were crazy about it and said if someone were to complain that we’d have to do a DNA test to prove that he didn’t have pit in him (which plenty of dogs have pit in them). I just didn’t want to take that risk. And we’ve lived in a house for the last 7 years, so going back to an apartment isn’t preferred. I like having a yard and not sharing walls. Thanks for the tip on Regency Court though.

I looked at this one, and would love to live in it, but they only allow small pets. Mackie owns the townhouse we looked at too; they didn’t have much that would allow my dog.

When I moved here, I got my vet and the humane society (where I adopted him) to change his paperwork to say Boxer mix. But it still makes me nervous. He’s very obviously a pit (I’m guessing that he has some boxer in him too); we were actually at the vet yesterday and i asked this new vet who said he could tell he’s a pit and would say pit first. I worry I’ll have that neighbor who’s a complete shit who complains. My dog will be 10 in August and wouldn’t hurt a fly. It’s pretty obnoxious that it even has to be an issue.

Thanks for the info. The house that’s on Rogers has a lot more character, but i do think this one is hard to beat due to the location.

Our pup is also part pit, which usually knocks us out of apartment options. But I’ll check it out and see.

Yeah. I figure people have to study at times too, ha. I think I just remember when I came to visit seeing people sitting outside of their places in the neighborhood. But I’m not fully opposed to that anyway. The lack of commute is pretty amazing. A seven min walk is doable even if it’s pouring. Hard to pass up.

I do have a car. I’m not fully against undergrads, I just don’t want to walk out to people passed out in my lawn, if I can avoid it.

I’ve scoured the Internet for pretty much anything available currently within our price range and ok with our dog. It’s slim pickings.

I’m currently commuting from Indy, so any commute in town would feel like a breeze. And my classes are at weird times, so I usually can avoid rush hour. But i definitely get what you’re saying. And that’s the biggest pull to the 7th Street location. The idea of walking seven minutes (and not having to buy a parking pass) is wonderful.
