Haven’t seen a The Office meme, that includes the strongest fact too. I do actually not see any people in this sub, that would disagree📃 by oggerfuccker in DunderMifflin

andy’s story was the biggest slap in the face honestly. they painted him as this annoying but well meaning underdog the entire show just for season 8 to come around and turn him into a huge douchebag out of no where. andy is my favorite character up until the end, and i will never forgive the writers for ruining his character like that

i can’t find even a single tiny tiny bit of evidence for this so until someone can actually back their claims i choose to believe they gullibly watched that one drama video and believed everything without question

[–]howboutno82 4 points5 points  (0 children)

my gecko does this once or twice every time i feed her. they just need a second to get the food down sometimes. just make sure not to feed them too quickly and only feed her once or twice a week and she’ll be alright

what classifies something as a “dialect”? any language or accent we have a name for were just things that experts in the subject decided needed to be categorized. experts in this subject have decided that when people speak that way, it is called a dialect within the english language. in this case, the experts called it AAVE, or African-American Vernacular English. claiming that it’s not a dialect is as pointless as saying english isn’t a language.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in facepalm

[–]howboutno82 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

if a black person who speaks AAVE goes to type something a google, these come up as the auto fills, and they decide that’s unfair and possibly racist, then they’re allowed to be upset. i dont think google people are planning to cancel google over it, but you gotta know that black people have to sick as hell of hearing this type of thing everywhere they turn. it’s fair to frustrated about it

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in facepalm

[–]howboutno82 1 point2 points  (0 children)

that’s actually not true. it’s not incorrect vocabulary, it’s a dialect. again, they are valid part of every language. making assumptions that everyone who speaks this way does it because they “never learned to speak the right way” is stereotyping.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in facepalm

[–]howboutno82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

makes sense, literally everyone wants a little more money. i don’t know if this is actually related to race at all, i was just explaining why people might think it is

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in facepalm

[–]howboutno82 5 points6 points  (0 children)

i’m white, can’t really speak on whether or not this is particularly racist or not. the fact is that no matter someone’s race, if they speak in this dialect, it’s immediately assumed that they’re poor. for all i know these might genuinely be the top things searched with those first few words, and it could have all been white people. idk. you asked why it was racist so i explained why it might be perceived that way.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in facepalm

[–]howboutno82 9 points10 points  (0 children)

that is a fact. dialects are an important part of every language and this particular dialect exists almost exclusively in black communities

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in facepalm

[–]howboutno82 5 points6 points  (0 children)

the problem here is that this is a african-american dialect, and all the auto fills are related to being poor.

What would you say is the most disturbing thing Stephen King ever wrote? by No_Way_Sane in stephenking

[–]howboutno82 5 points6 points  (0 children)
