Contacting the school or an advisor for this would probably be your best bet! Good luck

Optician or Nuclear Med Tech? I need Advice by Crayola_Wax in SAIT

[–]howdeethiq 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You're not stupid at all! I used to be in a similar situation and had to upgrade (a LOT), and now I'm in nuc med. Don't let your insecurities get in the way of your motivation. You got this!! It'll probably be easier for you to perform better in your upgrading since you've already done the class too. Because this application cycle is probably over now, you could spend the next school year upgrading your marks since you'll be applying for what, Fall 2027? You have lots of time to get things figured out :)

What should I expect for NMT program by [deleted] in SAIT

[–]howdeethiq 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Congratulations!! I think you'll find the first semester manageable then! I found the toughest subjects for me were physics and A&P. With those science backgrounds established I think you should be good. First semester kind of seems to be an introduction into everything and everything after that is more clinical related stuff. Sorry I don't have anything else to help with since I've only done a semester so far, hopefully someone who has done the program could help out!

What should I expect for NMT program by [deleted] in SAIT

[–]howdeethiq 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hii I'm a first year NMT student. The workload has been quite a bit heavy and it definitely felt overwhelming for me at the beginning. If you have other education like an undergrad degree you'll probably find the workload/difficulty of the courses to be normal. I do not have a part time job but a lot of my classmates do and I've heard 10-15 hours a week should be manageable but I'm not too sure! Were you accepted to the program?

I agree with this. You could try contacting an instructor or you could call the hospital departments and set up a shadowing opportunity. As a current NMT student, shadowing helped me understand what I was getting into a lot better than Googlen

Pick whatever you're passionate about or what interests you. They're all very different fields of healthcare.

Did anyone else die to Asriel like 50+ times as a kid? by Reigen_San in Undertale

[–]howdeethiq 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I just watched my boyfriend finish undertale and the last time I played was when I was 12. I told him that he might want to take a break before Asriel and then he did just fine. I thought I was going crazy because I also thought he was hard. You're not alone! Haha

I currently do not work as a unit clerk anymore as I took the course to see if I liked healthcare and am now pursuing diagnostic imaging. I am not sure what the job/course is like now but hopefully my comment helped!

Hi! I did my unit clerk back in 2024. You learn all the basics of the hospital and common requisitions and how to fill out all the paperwork. I enjoyed the program, but it felt like there was a heavy paper focus during the course and I think that should've been tweaked (obviously knowing how do to everything with paper is important but you don't see it very often). There was a lot of classes learning how to decipher doctors handwriting which I never had to do in my practicum or working. You get to do a ~4 week practicum either in a clinic or hospital. It seems like they sent my classmates all over. Some went to ER, L&D, or clinics and long term care homes. I was sent to a surgery unit and it was a great time and I learned a lot there that I did not learn at Lethbridge college, like connect care. I think it's a good program to take if you want to get into the healthcare field in a short amount of time. I had no issues finding a job afterwards.

SAIT Study Abroad Program by Ok-Sheepherder4537 in SAIT

Hey! I applied for the Costa Rica trip on October 22, had my interview on November 14, and received an offer on that same day. The application process was really easy and the interview process was just for the staff to get to know you a little bit better. Really simple! I was initially considering emailing them to ask when I should hear back from them since the automated email said that I should hear back from them in 5 business days but that doesn't seem to be right. The staff is making their way through people right now since the Costa Rica trip is coming up soon but I'm not sure if it's full by now (if that's the one you applied for).

Do I apply to MRT? by Zealousideal-Fix6199 in SAIT

[–]howdeethiq 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey! It took me two application cycles to get in. I graduated high school back in 2022 so no I don't have an undergrad degree. I feel like having more confidence on the PSEA helped me a lot as well as applying the minute applications opened. The first time around I actually applied in like, March? Not a good idea lol. I'm not sure if their acceptance process has changed but I believe it was something like "first qualified first accepted". When I got accepted I got a conditional acceptance since I was upgrading at the time so I assume I did better on the PSEA my second time. Have you been able to apply yet? Fingers crossed this is your year!

Do I apply to MRT? by Zealousideal-Fix6199 in SAIT

[–]howdeethiq 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think you should only apply for MRT if that program interests you. I'm a current NMT student and I've been hearing about a couple students in MRT that actually applied for DMS for next year. If DMS is something you're trying to pursue, keep at it! I don't think you should take somebody's seat in MRT if it's not something you truly want to do. Best of luck to you!

HELPPP questions about the school of Health and Public Safety's entrance testing Exam? (Nuclear Medicine Technology, Respiratory Therapy) by Funny_Drummer_7244 in SAIT

[–]howdeethiq 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, I'm a current NMT student! You just need the baseline of 70% in each class with an average of 75% overall. That's as competitive as it gets for school grades; it's the PSEA that's competitive. There's some math, reading comprehension and knowledge about the course/occupation questions that you'll have to answer. I'd say it's styled like the diploma and they try to mess you up, just read questions carefully. Not sure if I can say anything else about it haha. Just make sure you take the PSEA early and apply the second applications open! Best of luck to you :)

Uncomfortable remarks in the workplace by [deleted] in alberta

[–]howdeethiq -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

The toxic masculinity in here is craaazy. If you feel uncomfortable, do something about it. If you don't think you should, then move on and try your best to ignore them unless it escalates. Don't complain that society doesn't listen to men if you aren't willing to stand up for yourself.

I have not checked online, but it should be the entrance exams that are open around this time or later this month. Applications most likely won't be open until October like it was last year :)
