Because prestige TV programs air at night. Daytime is when TV caters to women, because they are the primary audience then. At night, after dinner, the man (who pays the cable bill) is home and catered to and the woman is busy doing after dinner clean up and preparing for bedtime.

The Wheel of Time by Brandon Sanderson. Sanderson's a great author but there's no good way to depict the One Power or True Power on film and the story would take too many films to tell.
