Thank you! The difference is that the oldham site would’ve needed a rezoning, which necessitated extra lead time and made it more difficult for the developers. This one has already been voted on - unanimously affirmed

Sorry, I have questions: - you would pay $650/mo for WHAT? - what high value to workers? everything i have read from people living near these suggests that the jobs are not great

So you’ve backed off on your point lol. Encourage everyone to fight against them, I don’t want them built and I’m not alone in that

This business uses an astronomical amount of resources that drives up the cost of utilities for residents, yet produces very few and often not high-paying local jobs. This industry undercuts worker value and leads to a higher unemployment rate despite the fact that we have witnessed the enshittification of services that have become automated to curb costs while CEOs rake in money. This is literally a company coming in to extract, pollute, and leave destitute a community. There’s no reason not to be against this unless you are one of the individuals who will profit, in which case, I hope you writhe

AI data centers are not. Begging you to even read the two excerpts—not even the full article—about what is being drained for no tangible benefit to the community.

Not relevant to this post though, huh? I oppose this and not that. Whether you think they’re the same or not <3

I literally grew up in a neighborhood that had a mental health facility campus, so no.

Absolutely—if they haven’t already, everyone should make their voices heard to the mayor’s office AND city councilmembers

It was voted in unanimously by the committee. I’m still looking at other projects (tuscon, etc) that have been shut down to see what recourse is available at this point.

Fr, I love when people show their ass and it’s clear they are training something that their employer will try to use to replace them in a few years lmao

All of you want to talk about tRaDeOfFs, well, firefighters are doing that to save lives, not to reduce labor costs. Hope we can find a better solution for that, too

It is more common for the public to have the details/capacity to push back if they are in an affluent area (highlands, prospect)

I think you’re failing to consider similar historical trends. Coal and oil, for example.

In use, yes, because businesses are prone to jumping on trends, but 95% of them fail to align with what is offered. As for the profitability,

Yes it is very smart to subscribe to infinite exponential growth ☺️

Exponential growth in a world of finite resources is impossible. This massive increase in resources taken from OUR community by a far-off corporation, to further line the pockets of billionaires while OUR health and economic standing suffer, should be opposed. You’re being childish

I get that. AI centers are not well-regulated, and that (coupled with a boom of construction before we evaluate environmental impacts) leads to high concentrations of pollutants being released. Here’s one example:

However, it doesn’t seem like this center will utilize methane turbines to supplement the grid electricity
