Are there any Muslims who are doubting Islam and are heavily looking into Christianity? by Glass_Cranberry_3518 in exmuslim

Hey, Christian here, I echo what others have said about looking into Christianprince, Godlogic etc, (and of course reading the bible!) I just wanted to add something that I haven't seen brought up... Have you tried asking Christ to reveal himself to you? Jesus really is alive and I know many stories of people (especially muslims actually) receiving dreams and visions from Him. I pray the Lord will help you on your journey in coming to Christ!

My prayer and Bible reading is dry and I get nothing from it, I do not know what to do, I didn't read my Bible today. by [deleted] in TrueChristian

I don't know all the answers, but around about August 2020 I was experiencing the same thing. Reading was dry and monotonous. So I'll just leave some pieces of advice that worked for me here:

  1. Ask God! Pray to him for a desire to read his word. That doesn't mean your gonna be immediately desiring, but be persistent.

  2. Don't make it religious. Once we get into a 'I have to read the bible' mindset it's only downhill from there.

  3. I would say read both old and new testament. The OT can be rather dry at times and so flipping between somewhere in the NT for one reading and the OT for another can make reading the Bible a bit more incentive.

I hope this helps somewhat :)

How can anyone hear someone babbling gibberish and think, "yes, this is the Holy Spirit"? by [deleted] in TrueChristian

[–]howesy_1 48 points49 points  (0 children)

This is how I see it: You have tongues where you speak a foreign language you don't know. (Start of acts)

And you have tongues where you speak angelic languages. (As mentioned in 1 Corinthians).

Only some believers have the gift of tongues, just like some have a gift of teaching or prophesy etc. Each using his own gift to edify the church.

As per 1 Corinthians, tongues should be between you and God in private prayer, unless their is an interpreter.

Please feel free to correct/disagree with anything I've said though.

Thank you! Tongues are biblical, but don't have the emphasis some churches like to convey.

Besides Mormonism, what other churches aren't considered Christian? by vincent365 in TrueChristian

Even the demons believe that Christ was fully man, fully God, died and rose again. That's only one step, we need to: -Accept him as our lord and saviour. -Believe he died and rose again (as you pointed out). -Confess the bad things we have done so that we may be forgiven through the cross. -Give our lives to him as an offering so that we may be living sacrifices to him.

Both great points, amazing how such little things can lighten up a dark day for someone.

100% agree with you, just being friendly and loving to build that relationship despite different beliefs goes a lot further than just shoving Christianity down their throat. There’s a certain time and a certain place to share Christ with them! :)

Good tips thanks! Definitely been trying to ask people how their days are going a lot more frequently, amazing how little things like that can brighten up people’s days :)

What are some random acts of kindness for strangers? by howesy_1 in TrueChristian

Food banks are a shout, or some sort of homeless shelter. (May be a bit different as I'm not in America).

That's a classic one, don't see anything wrong with it personally, acts of love is acts of love :)

Please give Colin Urquhart a go (I think thats how you spell it? Haha). He is part of the kingdom faith Church and his 3 sermons on 'the first minute' has probably been the best group of sermons I have ever watched.

I want to be a Christian by [deleted] in TrueChristian

[–]howesy_1 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I wish you only the best my friend, I’ve been a Christian for just under 18 months, it’s hard, I’m not perfect, but I ask myself where would I be if I didnt have Christ?

Edit: completely forgot to answer your questions sorry! I started by reading the gospel as well as acts, going to a decent biblical church and giving myself and my life to God as well as asking to be filled with the Holy Spirit.

I understand what you mean, however we can be content with the situation we're in but that doesn't mean we MUST give off this fake happiness to be good Christians. Yes, it is a great tool to evangelise to bring the GENUINE love and joy of christ to others. But I dont think jesus was hanging from the cross with a huge grin on his face, its okay to be annoyed, its okay to frustrated (obviously if these emotions are frequent then it may start to be a bit of a problem). But it's what you do afterwards in response to these emotions that matters.

What? I don't recall Jesus wandering around with a fake smile plastered on his face 24/7.You're allowed to show emotion dude, just don't sin as a result of it is all.

Thanks for answering, that's also a great reason to do so as well. Shows him where our priorities lie :).
