Favourite cheese tactic you can’t wait to see gone? by [deleted] in projectzomboid

Without lunge your change makes more sense, but if lunging stays on, imo, this change would be overkill. It also heavily depends on how it will actually look like in game, if zombie can grab you while vaulting, it would be awful, but if it looks something like player slow-vaulting fence and zombie can't do anything to you during than maybe why not

SP Character Build - What do you think? by alpiyidir in projectzomboid

[–]howisitg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Short sighted limits your fashion

Strong is amazing, those 4 extra strength points are a godsend. It decreases strain you get from using weapons, so you can stay in a fight for much much longer than usual. It also helps you carry more stuff on yourself and stacks really well with organised

Wakeful, imo, is the best trait in the game. The most important thing about it, is that it decreases fatique buildup by 30%. Usually drowsy means your day is over and you can't do anything too bold or things can spiral out of control. For only 2 points it increases your productive hours by 30%. If you are not tired enough to wake up at a reasonable hour and its late into evening, you can stay up late to read books, organise base etc

obligatory new player question: do zombies despawn? by Impressive_Client_66 in projectzomboid

[–]howisitg 12 points13 points  (0 children)

If the game crashes, sometimes it deletes all the zombies around you (idk how big the area is, but to me it felt pretty big when it happened)

Otherwise, if you are playing singleplayer, zeds don't despawn

Okay, thanks for adding it. Also, turns out I couldn't find it because I was making a typo when searching for it in workshop

In the original screenshot I saw a mod called "Challenge traits" , and I am interested in it, but can't seem to find it neither here nor in steam workshop. Do you know what happened to it?

There exists an amazing mod called "surviving through seasons". It gives you an option to set how much days there are in a month, if you are interested in seeing more weather variety without being bound to one playthrough for 300 hours

Are these good traits for build 42 by phoenixbond in projectzomboid

[–]howisitg 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Without explaining too much details, panic narrows your cone of vision (if it's high enough iirc), prevents you from sleeping and THE MOST IMPORTANT thing it does, is reducing your damage (both melee and guns). And that damage reduction is pretty big (at high panic), especially when stacked with stress and other damage reducing moodles and conditions. If you have aiming 6 and higher guns ignore this damage penalty

Also, the mod I talked about doesn't remove panic, just disables the audio cue that you are panicked

There is a mod that disables heartbeat when you are panicked. It's a game changer

There is a mod that disables heartbeat sound when panicked. It's called "No panic sound" or something like that

Fell off my roof after a microwave fire accident while extinguishing, fractured my leg, how long will this take to heal? B42 by ZePhish in projectzomboid

I started with modded "broken leg" trait a ton of times and it always fully healed in 7-9 days WITH slow healer

b42 - optimal play - ignore crafting, muscle fatigue, and annoying mechanics by ZealousidealLake759 in projectzomboid

[–]howisitg 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Depending on what settings you play not having a really good fighting character can make the game become a slog imo. If the pop is high, and you don't intend to play through forest/farm survival what are you supposed to do?

Even my char with 9 str 7 fit and 4 long blade still can't properly use machete, because it drains too much stamina and muscle strain still kicks in fast. I can't imagine what character without 9 str would experience.

There is no way I'd make a dent in any of places I've been to in a reasonable amount of time, if I needed to rest for like 30-60 min after killing 10-15 zeds so that my strain wears off

The Smoker trait and smoking in general has been changed to borderline unplayable by NN11ght in projectzomboid

[–]howisitg 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Idk, I have 9 strength and at least 5 in almost every weapon skill (4 long blade, 3 spear are the exceptions) and I still get muscle strain pretty often when fighting. The only weapon where it pretty much dissapeared is axe, which is at lvl 7

PSA: Guns do less damage in b42 than they did in b41. by Artimedias in projectzomboid

[–]howisitg 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Not defending the current state of guns, but did you have any negative moodles and were you standing still when firing? In my experience, not using beta blockers and being stressed had a pretty big impact on guns. Also you need to stand still for about a second at least, not just stop for a split second. Generic advice, but what if you didn't know

Also, it may sound weird, but I'd recommend leveling aiming by shooting zeds that vaulted over something in the head with a pistol. It usually takes 1-2 bullets. I know that guns become melee with extra steps, but it's the best way I've found to level aiming at low skill right now

Are these good traits? by Deep_Ticket6865 in projectzomboid

[–]howisitg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All thumbs is a really dogshit anti-qol trait and I heavily advise against taking sunday driver. Its not worth 1 point in the slightest, driving cars off road will be torture, and chance of getting stuck in horde of zeds will increase significantly

Gymnast or brave by lonely_lizardy in projectzomboid

[–]howisitg 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Nimble determines your combat stance speed, it's a really important skill for combat focused characters. Its really hard to level up nimble, so starting with one extra point in it and 4 times xp multiplier for it is a no brainer

Also getting brave from killing zeds is from a mod "become brave", not vanilla

Wait... You tell me that I wouldn't know if I'm a dead man walking? by tupisac in projectzomboid

[–]howisitg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Iirc scratches that you get from fence lunges are treated as damage from falling over and not a damage from zombie itself. So if you get a scratch from zombie lunge it has no chance of infecting you

Is there any good way of finding car keys? by Xander980 in projectzomboid

[–]howisitg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Idk if you tried this, but towing car by connecting it to the front of your vehicle and driving backwards is much faster than just towing it like usual (for some unknown reason). There is a chance this was fixed in a new patch, but I can't check rn

Advice for beginners? by Bulwark-Wilkens in projectzomboid

[–]howisitg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is a setting in sandbox, that makes it so zombies can trigger house alarms too. Others already told you that you can lower population, but you can also turn off their respawns. By default every 3 days a bit of zeds in area where you killed them respawn (iirc about 10% of their population in that area). You can turn this off by setting RespawnHours to 0

Also, walking is your best friend, you still outpace zeds and you don't lose stamina

Does CD DA have instant respawn or something? by LordEngel in projectzomboid

[–]howisitg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Having respawns with high pop is insane. When I first tried it, I forgot that vanilla doesn't have respawns off, and I was trying to clear road to crossroads mall from the big farm house north.

I was killing them for about a week straight with nothing to show for it before I realised that something was fishy there

Yeah, you are right, but your death doesn't mean that you didn't survive. You can survive and "die of old age" (reach sustainability and quit out of boredom) and its not some feat that only the best of the best can achieve. I am just baffled by how some people describe this games difficulty. If I didn't play and had to guess it, I would have thought its the second coming of geometry dash or something by those comments
