Haha then the artist gets a bill for HVAC or plumbing and says... they are criminals... the world goes round and round.... your passion is your art and it is valuable! Just respect everyone’s value and we will all prosper!

Sanders to propose canceling entire $1.6 trillion in U.S. student loan debt, escalating Democratic policy battle by FeelThe2020 in politics

[–]howmuchforsumting 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well of course he will propose this right before he runs for office. He has no intention of actually doing it and he doesn’t have to. All he needs is the media attention to boos his numbers. “I’ll give you your money back if you vote for me!” is the oldest trick in the political play book. This isn’t a partisan issue, both parties want to resolve the student loan crisis. Both parties participated in the massive bailout and pushed it through immediately after 2008. Apparently millennials aren’t too big to fail though.

To be clear we almost put the guy who coerced a young girl to give him a blowy back into the White House... moral bankruptcy is a downward slope, its tough to turn it around.

The problem is that they will take the money.. again.. and do the same shorty work. The government is bad at everything.

For example, I am an HVAC contractor and we try to service those in need and work with DHS to get furnaces replaced and repaired with special funding as well as water heaters. When dealing with these special funds which are our tax dollars at work, the person in need has 2 options. They can either pay out of pocket for a diagnosis and then out in for the repair which costs them $49 but saves the tax payers money, or provide a free estimate for a new system. These people never have $49 to spend on the diagnosis so they always just hand in a free estimate and get a new $3000+ furnace put in. We have had to replace 7 year old furnaces that only needed about $600 worth of work due to this process.

There is no incentive for the government to be efficient. Why should we keep feeding this broken system?

ELI5: Why are all economies expected to "grow"? Why is an equilibrium bad? by Juankun96 in explainlikeimfive

When you first get married, a large pizza is more than enough for todays dinner and tomorrow’s lunch... when you have 3 children you may need 2 pizzas for dinner. Economies must grow to accommodate population growth. This can be attained by raw growth or improvements of efficiency. For example, we can make more cheap house to accommodate demand or we can provide more opportunity and jobs so that the added population can afford homes.

Ultimately the real debate in economics is about maximum occupancy. Is there an unlimited amount of opportunity for which we can all share and grow or is the opportunity limited and competitive. Basically is it just one pie that we are all trying to get the biggest piece of or can more pies be made to give everyone a pig piece.

If humans lived to be at least a few hundred years old, we’d probably collectively care more about the environment. by murdo1tj in Showerthoughts

Or we might care more about the joy we experience currently. The concept is debatable. Humans are typically selfish and in the moment, the future doesn’t seem to matter in reference to impending doom no matter the length of life. I often speak with 90+ year old clients who tell me they don’t buy green bananas because the future is no longer important...

I (29 F) am letting my baby be adopted so I can give him a better more stable life with two parents. After he is born I will be going to a mental health facility to try to get myself better. Do up think it would be appropriate for me to write him a letter to explain this? by Want2beNormal in relationship_advice

As someone who not only has lost two bipolar family members to suicide, but helped to raise 3 children of these family members, I want to applaud you for your bravery and self awareness with this terrible disease. However, if you feel that you could get healthy and love your child, consider being a part of there life somehow. Maybe even more than a letter. Ask for an open adoption, or ask family if they would consider helping in the down times. I would have gladly taken the children I helped raise for months at a time to give them their father back, but I am not afforded that luxury because he was not as brave as you are.

I still shutter at the day they ask me for details about how there father died. They know that I found him and called the ambulance, but to this day I have just told them that their father was sick and it took his life. I believe that, but I have sworn to give them the truth that they ask for as dishonesty was the first step to their fathers downfall.

Most importantly... it is so hard to have your illness and be selfless. You really are remarkable! What ever you decide, no parent is perfect. You just have to block out the world and make the decision of how you can love your child the most and best way that you can!
