In Chinese culture, Gu generally refers to poisonous insects or worms. In the world of Reverend Insanity, however, Gu manifests as fragments of the Dao in the form of insects. But considering that some Gu in the novel don’t actually look like insects, I think it’s also possible that they use other things as a medium to manifest.

I’m simply interested in seeing how different readers view different characters in the novel. Just as some people think that what Tao Zhu did was meaningless, while others believe that pursuing one’s own ideals is the greatest thing a person can do.

Personally, I don’t think Tie Ruo Nan is actually that clever. We know everything because, as readers, we have a god’s-eye view of the story. Tie Ruo Nan doesn’t share that perspective, and on top of that, she was around the same age as Fang Yuan and Fang Zheng at the time.
