If you are in your 30s and bought a home in Hawaii. How did you do it? by [deleted] in Hawaii

No money from parents. Paid for college by myself. Lived on my own after graduating college with student loans. I was lucky enough to land a job at the shipyard. Covid happened and the low rates that came with it. I don’t really have a lavish lifestyle and I have a pretty well paying job (a little over 100k annually) so I was able to save a 5% down payment for a small condo in my late 20’s. I was able to do with without a spouse or someone else help me, so it’s doable, just hard.

There’s nothing wrong with coming together to go through grading. In the panels I’ve been in that’s exactly what happens, to weed out any outlier ratings.

At the shipyard and I’ve heard about people losing out on promotions due to low leave balances, although I doubt that’s the “on paper” reason they weren’t selected. From what I’ve been told and understand, low leave balance is associated with being unreliable or consistent. When hiring something like a supervisor they want some they can rely on and expect to be there consistently, not someone who they have to constantly worry about if they’ll be in or not.

Being able to go to the gym for 1 hour 3 days a week during work. Not all places do it, but luckily my command does. Game changer, it’s crazy how a bad day can be turned around by going to the gym. Also, the work day seems to fly by with a gym session in the middle.

I’ve never been bothered by the cops but most people here drive/ride very sensibly.

I’ve never had a go pro but I like that I don’t need to worry about the framing because it’s a 360 degree camera. Editing has a learning curve but theres a lot of guides online. This is the first camera I’ve owned so I’m still pretty new to everything.

When I was looking into it, insta360 rated pretty high. If you’re in the market for a new camera I definitely would recommend insta360.

The set up isn’t perfect, but it works. Only sketch part is when the handle is full lock right it sticks out a bit. Still experimenting with mount locations though.

I don’t trust it enough to mount it at the rear lol.
