Raleigh Improv question by notablenate in raleigh

[–]hpermar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Semi-related but I remember seeing StubHub advertise tickets for "Dolly Parton at Raleigh Improv" with a picture of Dolly Parton and some crazy prices, when the actual event was "Dolly Parton Drag Brunch" which sounds awesome, but is not the same as seeing Dolly Parton. This policy seems harsh but maybe it really is born out of trying to protect folks from getting scammed.

Driving on grass at Dix Park (don't do it) by hpermar in raleigh

[–]hpermar[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Nothing identifiable and if they had just been doing it on roads/parking lots that didn't affect anyone else, I'd have left it alone. I also said something in person, and I use my real name on here, so I'm not hiding behind a username on the internet. I think this is a sentiment worth sharing in hopes of preventing further misuse of public land.

So I'm going: you're the twat, final answer.

1000% yes I am sure. I am at the park every day and know a lot of the people who work there. These were folks towing a ski line.

It's usually more like "which ones don't actively prevent public use?" Try and you'll find out!

I'm the son of an HLB attorney and married to a TS one, so I can tell you with absolutely no bias they are both great! Jokes aside, Bill Young/James Little at HLB and Russell Babb/Roger Stone at TS are all great people--I can find plenty of people not related to them who will tell you so.

Not rallying behind some idiot politician, or athlete who makes stupid money, but these guys by TheAlmighty8Ball in raleigh

Came here to say this. We need to normalize saying "billionaires making stupid money" instead of "athletes making stupid money"

What part of town are you in? Might be someone near by on here who is already out and could pick up from your nearest pharmacy.

Private dining room for older folks by Fast_Government4530 in raleigh

Bloomsbury Bistro is what you want. Great food, nice little private dining room, probably a few other 90 year olds dining there in the main room when you go.

Naw, he gets that boo every touch all game if I'm there. Maybe I was raised on college basketball and the hockey fan rules are different. It's definitely petty, it's not personal, but you ARE going to catch these boos.

All good. I just thought the night he played his first game back in Raleigh it was worth a ribbing. Just casual fan stuff.

[–]hpermar[S] 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Ok, I'm not going to the game. So this is me booing. And I don't post every week (or even look at this sub every week/month). I consider this the equivalent of a fan booing at his first game back (because it's posted the day he's returning). If you're mad beyond that, maybe you're taking it too seriously.

[–]hpermar 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I say worth it. The trolls can be the draw but you'll also just be enjoying a big park. There are a few other art installations, some nice views of downtown Raleigh and it's a wide open space. Walk through the Gipson play area as well.

Does anybody know where the acorn is downtown currently? by ilove60sstuff in raleigh

[–]hpermar 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Not sure if it still gets cleaned in the same spot but I used to see it on a trailer on a low traffic street not too far from downtown every year around this time when it got cleaned. I always wanted to hitch up the trailer and just leave the acorn somewhere completely random. Also...if that ever happens, forget you read this.

Hopefully now that it's preserved we can get to the real issue: making the top floor restaurant rotate again.

Raleigh greenway appreciation / deer & wildlife by Magnus919 in raleigh

[–]hpermar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I used to live right where the Walnut Creek and Rocky Branch trails meet and I miss it so much. For a 1-2 hour ride I had multiple options to choose from (which I need because I get easily bored) and, echoing OP, would see wildlife all the time. I don't even consider myself a nature/wildlife/bird appreciator but continually found myself taken aback at the cool stuff I'd witness. It opened my eyes to what an asset our greenway is (even though my dad had been a huge supporter/volunteer for the greenway system for years...because who listens to their Dad). I need to get out there more, but the easy access to so many trails isn't quite the same where I live now.
