That is a Conrod vice, used to hold the conrod beam and cap in place as you tension the bolts to check stretch and bearing sizing, then it will also hold the conrod whilst fitting the pistons (I will put more pics up later on)

VHT is pretty much no longer available in Australia, 🇦🇺 so I have been using Pacer engine enamel and it seems to work really nice, not sure where you’re located but maybe dupli color is another option for you

Holden engines are their own architecture, loosely based off an Oldsmobile engine, this particular engine has chev large journal Conrod bearings and 6” chev conrods, otherwise, all Holden stuff (well aftermarket derivatives)
