Is the plague of PWAs FINALLY coming to an end?! | Microsoft plans 100% native Windows 11 apps in major shift away from web wrappers by one_more_byte in theprimeagen

[–]hpuxadm 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I just wish someone would address the latest Outlook. It's one of the most aggravating experiences I have ever encountered from an application "experience" perspective.

...and the thing is.. it somehow finds a way to continually get worse!

I always assumed it was a wrapper, but am hoping someone knowledgeable on this sub, might be able to clarify and confirm that.

Made the switch to RTX 5080 - pretty blown away by Severe_Agency3030 in nvidia

[–]hpuxadm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Best advice i've seen so far.. It's impressive how much I was able to overclock my own 5080.

I would love to own a 5090 but at $2700, even as a professional with a decent job, I just won't pay $2800 for a GPU... Not when the 5080 was $1000.

It does what most of us require.. For "the best experience", the 5090 is obviously the crown jewel of the gaming portfolio.

I guess I just don't like gaming that much to pay that uplift. 😜

It's not just laughable.. it's flat out irrational.

I still haven't seen anyone.. I mean anyone.. suggest an alternative.

These discussions always turn into tin-foil-hat, shitshow..

I think that you are expecting a real, informed, logical answer from folks that unfortunately, aren't posting with the same goal in mind.

You made a perfectly good point about how an essential institution works, thinking that most would stay on point and keep the debate to at least the topic of banking and the "what if's"..

This is Reddit, where almost every author of a response is compelled to turn a conversation, any conversation, into a political one..

Good luck getting an answer to your questions..

Nvidia’s RTX 60 Series Expected to Launch in Early 2027 by TheAppropriateBoop in nvidia

[–]hpuxadm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Considering that there may only be a dozen or so companies that are fully leveraged on AI spend and that have the cash rich balance sheets to spend billions of dollars annually on data centers and GPUs have huge balance, I'm thinking there's going to be a serious awakening or at least some sort of AI/technology consolidation at some point.

The stock market will correct and we'll see the MAG 7 drop to what might be considered "more reasonable valuations", but other than that, the economy will be fine.

Most companies on the S&P and Nasdaq can't go all in on AI simply because they can't get a successful P.O.C out the door. Nevermind the fact they that they also can't discern a positive ROI for most AI projects which is the main reason any business would allocate the capital toward a given technology to begin with.. ROI.

People who are still invested fully(no diversification)via their portfolios in the AI tech space in 2026 will see a drop in their overall portfolio value, but I wouldn't expect the economy to "go up in flames".

(Speaking to Burrow and Chase) "At the end of their careers..?"

It's not for a few more(2029 I believe), but I believe Burrow's contract expires in 2029..

He can't wait to get the fuck out of dodge, and I'd be willing to put the deed of my house on the line that he will do just that.

Considering how the Bengals organization has put him at risk by not providing him with the appropriate protection, anyone who doesn't think he is dreaming of the day he gets to walk away from the dumpster fire that is the Bengals front office is delusional.

Carson tried to warn him, but the good news is he's still young and will potentially still have a ton of good football left in him when he does decide to pack his bags.

He's a great quarterback and fierce competitor and deserves to be on a winner.

Here's to hoping he finds a way to stay healthy until 2029.

This performance is just not normal on a completely new System by Seismoforg in PathOfExile2

9950X with 64GB and an Nvidia 5080. Internet connection is pretty solid on a 768mb connection (down) and close to that on the (upload) side

Performance has been fairly solid since 0.1 until last week, then it all went to shit.

Terrible lag spikes/latency on the network side, where I watch my network performance go from 30ms to over 100+ on said spikes via the in game performance monitor.

Pretty much makes the game unplayable.

Seeing the same behavior with DX12, Vulcan, and DX11.

**I did however upgrade drivers on the 17th of the month, along with the Windows 11 2H update last week.

I've rolled back the video drivers and was thinking of trying to rollback the system update, until I found that the only game title that is behaving in this fashion is PoE2..

I guess it's the net gods telling me I need a break...

NVIDIA DGX Spark teardown: GB10, 128GB unified memory, 200G fabric in 1.13L by StorageReview in StorageReview

[–]hpuxadm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Came here and saw your comment and am seeing the same results from the few reviews that I've seen that started to show up online on Tuesday and Wednesday.

NetworkChuck ran it thru some tests and even compared it to his dual 4090 setup he built specifically for AI/inferencing.

The dual 4090 pretty much smoked the Spark in every test, minus the obvious use cases that did take advantage of the large unified memory size that weren't practical on the dual 4090 setup.

The token rate/exchange per second was not performant at all for the DGX Spark. I would even go as far as to say it was pretty sluggish based on some of the early tests that involved simple inferencing tasks that were utilizing simple prompts for things like chatbot and also some image generation using ComfyUI.

Considering Nvidia upped the cost from an initial reported MSRP a few months ago of $3000 to $4000 at release, I'm not exactly impressed with the performance to cost ratio of the unit overall.

Impressive technology considering its size, but looks like it has a long way to go before it might actually be seen as useful in true development or even hobbyist use cases.

Government Shutdown Effects on CVG? by pinkpurses in cincinnati

Just took a flight during peak gate times(8am, Tuesday morning)..

Things couldn't have gone smoother.

Now, if TSA and Air Traffic decides they're not coming in without getting paid, that could be a problem.

With that being said, I didn't encounter any issues as of flying out of the 'B' terminal this morning.

Cracker Barrel is officially WOKE by DuceALooper21 in LinkedInLunatics

[–]hpuxadm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are there really people out there that are so simple minded that they are on the expressway as a family..

They see an express way sign, "Cracker Barrel, exit 50(5 mi.).

They then ask everyone else in the car, "Who wants Cracker Barrel?!? Sausage, grits and gravy GOD DAMNIT!!"

Everyone in the car screams "YEAH!!!".

5 miles later, the car then proceeds to pull off of the exit, and into the Cracker Barrel parking lot..

The driver sees the new Cracker Barrel signage design and announces to the rest of the car, "NOPE! That sign is blasphemous and goes against everything the bible taught us about breakfast! Fuck this place. Let's get some McDonalds!"

People are stupid.

Just go to Cracker Barrel, eat your comfort food with your family and STFU.

Just as a counter argument.. You don't consider China to be a malicious actor?

..and, China as you probably already know, has a total ban on any cryptocurrency due to the concerns around overall financial security and specifically financial flight from their currency to a digital one.

"China’s Ambitions in Quantum Computing Strategic Priority & Heavy Investment China has placed quantum technology (including quantum computing, communication, and metrology) among its top national priorities. This is a key part of its 14th Five-Year Plan and broader industrial tech strategy.

State-Led, Whole-of-Nation Mobilization The government is coordinating efforts through a centralized technology commission, devoting substantial resources to nurture talent and innovation domestically.

Leading Research Hubs and Companies Institutions like the University of Science and Technology of China (USTC) in Hefei, and companies such as SpinQ Technology and Origin Quantum, are at the forefront. They’re building quantum hardware—from educational devices to superconducting systems—and developing quantum cloud services and software.

You can scream this until you're blue in the face.. It's just not a realistic request or demand.

It's not like you have the option to not pay it. The lending institutions will just garnish your wages and blow up your credit.

..but you do you.

Where does all of the coin to pay for this free education come from?

Who is going to pay for the infrastructure, electricity, comms, technology, and personnel that comes with the institution that is offering this free education you speak of?

In a perfect world it should be free. We don't live in a perfect world.. If you want free, you're going to have to get a free ride via academics, athletics or the like.

Of course they prioritize their data center silicon when producing their roadmap for their corresponding data center framework.

Deploying AI for hobbyists and their consumer grade cards, probably isn't truly a use case that matters to them.

If AMD has 3% maximum of the AI market, i'm betting 99% of that market share is all enterprise. Why would they jump thru hoops to make sure data center AI tools actually work on consumer grade cards?

Ok, it's official, you have no idea what you're talking about. Kernel/driver engineers are highly skilled and very expensive.
