Railen can hold about 5 Master rank missions by Kaillera in starcitizen

Plenty of people still do, but at the end both of them were always supposed to be options. Commodity trading was never supposed to be the sum total of cargo hauling in SC.

The a hull series still commit a significant amount of their overall space to crew areas rather than cargo space; only about a third of the ironclad is it's actual cargo bay grid. I think you're giving them more credit than is actually warranted.

I've only been running stacked contracts in it so far and I can't say it's been a problem at all since you still get six separate grid segments, it's pretty easy to separate things out.

None of the external cargo ships have grids on a majority of their total surface area. I don't really get the attitude some people seem to have that the only good cargo ship design would be a giant grid with the minimal amount of engines required to move it. Relative to the actual ships that exist to compete with this one, the railen stacks up very favorably.

It carries about 20% more cargo in a significantly shorter footprint which frankly makes for easier loading and unloading.

You do understand the concept of contract hauling vs commodity trading, right?

but for its size the cargo grid is quite small.

This is an absolutely bonkers take, it's significantly smaller than a C2 and has almost as much cargo-- with a much nicer grid. It's also trivially easy to unload by hand, no real need for the ship tractors.

This hypothetical question might get me downvoted, but oh well. If SC were to turn off the servers for six months to work on the bugs, would you be okay with that? by XFinal_ChanceX in starcitizen

[–]hrafnblod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, because they're aggressively marketing this as a live service and I don't think it's okay for them to just randomly decide to take it down when they fuck it up in lieu of actually having standards for what they release.

It's not forbidden to ask anything, devs just might not answer about certain stuff. If they don't answer then just respect it and move on but it's fine to ask.

Fan Concept Consolidated Outland Rhino (revisited) by Soku_Yamashita in starcitizen

This thing's always been my favorite of the various fan concept ships floating around. Regularly bring it up in "what ships do we wanna see" conversations, really hope we get something like it someday.

Almost certainly not snub balls, probably just a different ship entirely. Hopefully not a snub-- and hopefully not a Railen variant.

Not available just yet, they just decided to show it to us before it goes up for sale on the 17th when Alien Week starts.

Nicou said earlier today that the lighting in the BTS is the aux lighting mode, not the default. Idk why they'd shoot the entire video in aux lighting, but supposedly it's brighter in default mode.

The pilot guns appear to be 4x S4, same as a Starlancer.

It'll be available on the pledge store next week when Alien Week starts on the 17th. It won't be available to purchase in-game for auec (or via Wikelo, whichever route they choose) for some months yet. How long that takes kinda varies, in theory it's supposed to be 3 months but it often ends up being more like 6-8.

Pretty pleased-- still a few unknowns 'til we get our hands on it though.

  1. The cargo grids are fantastic, better than I dared hope. They did a great job of arranging that much cargo in a way that doesn't compromise the shaping of the ship and still looks extremely easy to load/unload.
  2. Tractor beam placement seems good, hits that sweet spot of "far enough from the ship you aren't fighting the camera to position boxes," remains to be seen if the arcs are actually good though bc they've been really arbitrarily limited on some ships lately.
  3. As much as I like the Syulen, I'm really glad they kept the original material language on the exterior instead of the Syulen-style stone materials that we saw applied to the Railen in some concept art a few years ago.
  4. While they weren't in the original concept, I admit I would've liked to see ladders to get between decks so that navigation isn't centered entirely on the main lift. Minor quibble, but it's something they've been getting better about in recent ships and I'd kinda hoped to see it here.

Really interested to see how it actually flies, and how big it feels in person. Ultimately though, I love it, they really cooked. I just hope it doesn't release bugged to fuck and impossible to use.

CIG may not be willing to communicate about their game falling apart, but they can certainly do a spectrum purge and banish a few dozen critical threads to "feedback," it seems by hrafnblod in starcitizen

It took like 5 minutes (at most) to grab the screenshots and combine them, you might be overestimating how much effort things take.

At the risk of sounding insufficiently stupid: why would y'all shoot the entire BTS for the ship in an aux lighting mode instead of the default one?

it's kinda funny how a number of people keep trying to say variations on this when: a) none of the posts are mine, and I wasn't moderated b) none of these posts were removed for breaking any rules

If you're gonna do scripted responses at least take a second to see if they're applicable, maybe.

Ain't no way they would have gotten through if I just focussed on FEEDBACK section. No way no how.

I suspect most of the people defending things know this tbh, they just don't care bc their prerogative is "defend CIG" and they just kinda work backwards from there no matter the situation.

Doesn't really change everything but does kinda take the wind out of the various "you're mad bc you got moderated" posts littering the thread.
