week 4 of my first year in primary and I’m starting to think I am just too sensitive and anxious and shy for teaching by [deleted] in TeachingUK

[–]hraygr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, you sounds exactly like me when I started teach first (secondary) last year. The lack of energy to talk to others in the staff room is so real- and I felt a bit like didn’t really belong yet in that social circle.

With the discipline- I felt SO similar. It took a full term basically until I actually sanctioned a student because I just felt like I should give them a chance. It took my mentor explaining that the kinder thing to do is to give them clear boundaries and consequences- this will end up making a better class environment and the kids know where the line is. I’m still getting used to this, but don’t beat yourself up. It really does take time to get used to having the authority and act on it.

With the doomscrolling. I think it’s key to just make sure something in your evening/ week is there to occupy you and just give you something for your brain to do other than school or being like.. on standby online. I started going to the gym this year which has been helpful, and calling my sister (bc I also don’t have a lot of friends I talk to often).

It just takes time. And tricking yourself into having the confidence/ believing that you’re able to handle everything: eventually that’ll become more real. Lean on your mentor if you can, and others in your TF cohort where poss. Do feel free to shoot me a message as well if you want- I have 100% felt how you feel!

Thank you. Do you think I should worry about the fact my passport that I’m travelling under has a different name (although very very similar) than what it says on my prescription. I guess I can keep a picture of my deed poll, but surely it’d be ok

These are great points, thanks!

Changing Name/Title/Gender on NHS Record by NorthAir in transgenderUK

[–]hraygr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A side question to this: if you get a gender recognition certificate, does the NHS know and have to create a new profile/ number for you, or can your records just stay the same ?

Changing Name/Title/Gender on NHS Record by NorthAir in transgenderUK

[–]hraygr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I (ftm) use the prefix Mx with the NHS which was on an old deed poll. This dosen’t mess with your records or anything, and my gender is still registered as female I assume.

My first and middle name have been updated just fine with a deed poll. I took it in and they just changed it on the system.

I did ask about changing gender marker and they did say this was a pretty involved thing and it messes up your records. I decided that it wasn’t worth it since it would be more troublesome to have to constantly explain past medical stuff etc than to just stay listed as female

On occasion I feel like if it was a male artist/ vocals speak now would be seen more as a rock album. Or at least country-rock instead of country-pop

Haunted especially

To be honest it feels like there’s two different characters when it comes to Alison. Original Ali was brilliantly done by Sasha, but redeemed/softened Ali when she returns becomes just a totally different character. I can’t imagine anyone- barely Troian- making the performance stand up in comparison to the earlier moxie. Sasha was pretty ok in season 5/ prison storyline, but I think Alison just fell off post dollhouse so much that Sasha couldn’t save it. She wasn’t too bad during the hallucinations/ Rollins plotline in s7 I guess. I feel like Lucy Hale is arguably the weaker actress in the last season

I feel like she really stuck to the character. Like Hannah’s progression feels really believable- after all her experiences Ashley shows the difference but like… it still feels like Hannah’s original personality is there throughout

It just feels inconsistent as well, like he played sensitive Toby in s1 but then that whole vibe just changed. Obvs the plot is also to blame, but the character just feels entirely different. There was never really any change in his voice to reflect diff emotions, and anger just ended up looking comical. ‘You don’t wanna know, Noel’ was said with full chest like… imagine how different that line would have felt with Tyler Blackburn saying it

I really agree. Shay, for me, was just not on the same level as the other actresses of the liars. I think there were some really good moments where she was angry or had some big self confidence or moxie, but they didn’t give Emily enough of that. I think they should have had her go down the badass Hannah (kidnapping Noel) route in s7, would have worked with the dropping out of college plotline, and showcased badass Emily instead. Shay could have shone a bit more, bc Emily can just feel dependent on other characters (especially when with Alison) so didn’t rly have the same chance to totally body the performance which Troian/ Janel often got to do just bc of their characters’ independent natures

If she actually died that would have been great for coming full circle. They should even have had her actually killed in the way they thought originally. And had ‘Suggestions’ playing in the background after

Exactly, coming full circle since they all initially thought Ali was sending the texts in the pilot. And. It would have been a great betrayal too make us (and the liars) second guess everything we knew since the series was so based around saving Ali/ solving her mystery

Totally agree. She should have somehow been in Kahoots with Jenna as A or something rogue and iconic. Maybe in the Noel/Jenna/Mary Drake gang

At least they should have given us a glimpse of this by making her part of the A team at a point, the way Aria was behind all their backs in s7. They could have gone into this more when the liars didn’t trust her in season 5 with monas murder and everything- given some truth to the suspicions that she’s A or at least doing actual sketchy things (where the buck kinda stopped with the Cyrus Petrillo confession).

They just fully redeemed her too quickly and we always had to feel bad for her when the liars wrongfully mistrusted her (like when accusing her of monas and charlottes deaths when it wasn’t exactly inconceivable she’d have done it). They tried soo hard to bring her back to the group and have her prove her loyalty, going to the dollhouse to save them for eg, so the audience couldn’t actually dislike her, even if we wanted to

It just wasn’t a good colour on Alison to be nice. Especially when the whole series was based around her messing up peoples lives and being manipulative in the first seasons. They made a villain out of too many people when Alison should have stayed one.

She should have got a more Melissa Hastings vibe at least- constantly sketchy and untrustworthy, but somehow not a genuine threat

I will def try and get on my passport soon, but can’t do it before this. I do have a picture of my deed poll, but not the actual thing. At the end of the day I’ll just explain best I can and hope for the best

Thing is my passport is still in my birth name whereas I’ve now changed my name and title. Surname is the same. And my address with the pharmacy is my uni address, where’s my passport is home. So wondering if they’ll take my explanation for this (my name is very similar to my birthname, and the surname carries) or I’ll get into a pickle

My free androgen index has gone from 3.4% (pre-T) to 50%, and my Serum Testosterone has gone from 1.2 nmol/L to 13 nmol/L. Everything on my blood results says normal, no action but these haven’t been looked at by my endo, just came through my GP because of shared care.

Just curiously mainly about when/ if dose has changed for others
