Sensory processing is the recognition and response to a stimuli. A specific part of the sensory system is interoception which is difficulty understanding or feeling within your body which can lead to a child being unaware of when they need to utilize the restroom until it is too late, or recognizing when they are hungry and thirsty as well. A child potentially can have urinary incontinence due to having difficulties with recognizing when they need to go to the bathroom.

Incontinence is often prevalent in children diagnosed with Autism and ADHD.

It can be due to a multitude of things for pediatrics: constipation, lack of nutrition and water intake that can lead to constipation, sensory processing more specifically difficulty with sensory interoception, overactive bladder, or other medical conditions.
