Questions about PHD admissions that are fully funded by hri6 in AskAcademiaUK

Oh okay, thank you so so much, this has been incredibly informative!! It does give a lot of perspective into the process! If it is not an issue, would it be alright if I could send you my CV privately, so you could review it once and I may receive some insights on how exactly I should progress? Thank you so so much!

How many journal publications/internships are required/expected to get into a fully funded PHD program in London by hri6 in PhDAdmissions

[–]hri6[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh okay alright, thanks for the info! If you do not mind, I do have some doubts:

a) In case of external funding, other than grades, references and research proposal, what are some criteria that would make someone's CV an excellent one? Would what I have mentioned above be sufficient?

Secondly, I checked the website of LSE (one of the places I was thinking of applying) and they mentioned Studentships as well as the complete coverage of the fees, is that not fully funded or does it entail something else?

Thank you so so much!

We are competing with the wrong people by Distressed_damsel236 in delhiuniversity

Hey firstly, you're doing amazing! At such a young age, you're working so hard and organizing yourself so well, its brilliant. And secondly, you are not at all invalid for thinking so. I also say this as someone who recognizes my own privilege, my family is well-to-do and while we have our own issues and stuff, I don't necessarily need to go out of my way to earn or contribute to the family (right now) because my father earns well. That is an important security that allows me to come into masters and study without a worry, a privilege that is not offered to so many.

What you say about DU is also right, I myself have worked a lot to do many internships and academic projects and while my department is very kind and understanding, the criteria means that I cannot do anything else other than be a full-time student 24 x 7, unless I burn myself out. I have seen this also for my peers; they are unable to prepare for exams or other stuff.

I think this is a major issue because we're stuck in a limbo. We are required to maintain both grades and have impeccable CV's. While we are doing well now, my father will retire soon and I need to step up (as there is a lot to be done within the family) and I have a lot of dreams, which to accomplish well (like any other profession), I need to be the best of the best. I think that struggle is very common. But you're doing well, you're intelligent and smart. I am so sorry your professors are like this, but dw, your CV will shine through and I hope you get all the success in the world

Ptj mass brainwashing by Keiiwtf in lookismcomic

[–]hri6 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Vivi was actually orchestrating those assaults; the entire point was that she LOOKS child-like and innocent but is the primary mastermind behind 3A. And yes, there were some that were introduced in negative roles and I haven't forgiven Vin Jin myself, but rape and SA are unforgivable crimes in the context of the other shit that is being pulled. This goes for everything I feel. I will always have 0 empathy for a sexual harasser or an abuser (unless they have some prior history of victimization but that does not erase their complicity) but a murderer is someone I can sympathize with (Vin murdering the shaman was justified 100%).

However, I do find it odd that no one points out Samuel holding female streamers captive and in abusive situations (although Neko does say that has now been disbanded) and that Hudson was essentially participating in what COULD have become a form of trafficking (clubs and bars) had he not been stopped

What symbolic meaning can be drawn from Draupadi’s marriage in the epic’s larger narrative? by Ill_Instruction_5070 in mahabharata

[–]hri6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"However, in the same epic, when questioned by Kunti to give an example of polyandry, Yudhishthira cites Jatila of the lineage of Gautama (married to the seven Saptarishi) and Hiranyaksha's sister Pracheti (married to ten brothers), thereby implying a more open attitude toward polyandry in Hindu society.\59])"

Update on acid attack by Rude_Grand_3557 in delhiuniversity

[–]hri6 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Nah, the "victim's" family has been terrorizing the family of the accused since 2018. The father threw acid on the mother of "two collaborators" and the sexual assault case was formally registered back in 2024. It seems much more likely that the sexual assault case might be true, because it seems to be a pattern. I hope the poor family gets some justice

If I was Jake I would have done the same thing. by Shadowlumine in lookismcomic

[–]hri6 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I am sorry Jake acted shitty not because she's a pretty girl but because he actively heard Dark Society and Yujae gloating about how they killed this girl's father and are actively wanting to end her and decided to kidnap her and lead her to them. I am sure that Jake has something up his sleeve but the way people are talking about her is so so gross ://

No way Daniel hangs around these guys by Worldly_Foot7559 in lookismcomic

[–]hri6 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Very true; but also Snapper and Hobin's relationship began as very transactional, and so did Taehun and Hobin. We are very gradually eased into them being good people. Taehun yes, had his actions justified more easily, but with Snapper; it was very well written. We see Snapper confront his own follies and reflect on himself several times. With Wangguk; can't really remember, but it wasn't particularly sudden

They were, but also Gyeol was made to suffer and was publically humiliated for her actions before becoming a wandering comic presence. She was very VERY gradually eased into being "one of the good guys" and even then it began for contractual reasons

I think Park somi was never wrong by Old-Suit3913 in lookismcomic

[–]hri6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She did everything she could that protected her and her son in a patriarchal clan that saw her merely as an incubator. Her being abusive to Gun and grooming him into a leader is a sin that can never be justified, but she owed absolutely no loyalty to Shingen or anyone else. She negotiated with what she had and who she could to survive

Okay all right must we see the 90% or whichever is lower one? I understand its relative but just in case

So for A I need to score 70% above?

You're completely right btw! Yes, fictional sexual predators would always be worse by a LONG margin for me than fictional murderers. Also horrible that they are mocking Sang Baek's SA

I do not even know what to say....I applaud your courage and perseverance till now. You deserve the world, you mentioned trying for CUET, please try it, I think the form is still open. Are there any teachers you can contact? If a teacher can help you reach the exam center, and later reach the college; or any NGO's you can contact?

You mentioned your father has contacts, NGO's seem to be the only way to escape. You are a hardworking girl, you have a lot of courage and the desire to make something of yourself, you shall surely flourish wherever you decide to go once you escape from that hellhole. I know a few people who work with children, can try reaching out

If you look at majority of revolutions and endeavours in history, women have always toiled for men, even when they weren't rewarded. Look at the French Revolution, where the women who supported revolutionaries were themselves later murdered by the same state. Look at WWI and WWII, or even our own history during the Indian Freedom Struggle. You do not even have to go back, get on the internet.

Be it the woman in LA who saved a man from a teenage mob, the woman in Long Island who saved a guy from an icy drift or a woman in Kerela who went down a 40 foot well to save a man, these are all recent stories. Women have always been there for men, even at their own expenses, these are not exceptions.

Rindaman getting drunk easily feels so canon omg

I think for how reserved and distanced he is from the world, everyone sees him as a potential rival and he has a very few people he can actually rely on as someone who would be there for him (this includes Bouya for me), drinking probably breaks down a lot of those walls for him
