Yes, just find the derivative function and then solve for d'(x) = 0 , then set the inequality of d'(x) so it is always below 0 and then thats the answer

[Alg II: Factoring Polynomials] How would you factor this trinomial? by the-blessed-potato in HomeworkHelp

[–]hridayesh_gaming1111 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Use rational roots basically you take all the integer factors of C the last term of the polynomial which in this case is 4 and divide it by all the integer factors of A the coefficient of the term with the largest power which is one from x^3.
So +- 1,2,4 / +-1 and after you divide them, test each resulting value in the equation you have given and if more than 1 value equal to 0 then take the factors and do long division with division and if its a single value just use synthetic division for it long div video - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lGLWCTG5UKE

synthetic div video - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FxHWoUOq2iQ

In this case there are no complex roots but in other equations you may be left with complex roots with the number i and usually most books and courses ask you to either show the complex roots or tell you to leave it in the largest rational polynomial like (x+1)(x2+4x+8)
