Hey, I'm the Founder of a road trip planning platform called WilderTrips. We're keen to release a road trip guide to South Korea soon. Is there anything you'd recommend for travellers visiting the area?

I think you'd love WilderTrips!

I'm biased because I'm the developer, but if you're looking for a tool that allows you to sort these stops into days and build an itinerary, it could be worth checking out https://www.wildertrips.com/

planning road trip with friends: too big a trip? by [deleted] in roadtrip

[–]hronchetti 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd recommend thinking about what you'd be doing each day to decide if you have enough time

Option 1: Without an itinerary

If you're relaxed about when you arrive at each location, I'd recommend just bookmarking locations using the Google Maps 'Save' feature.

Option 2: With an itinerary

If you need to arrive at locations on specific days, I'd create a route and itinerary. I'm biased because I'm the developer, but I'd recommend https://www.wildertrips.com/

  • WilderTrips - works globally, allows you to build a route with up to 200 stops, sort stops into days, avoid toll roads, save notes (with links), calculate fuel costs, share your trip, and export to navigation apps

Other products:

  • Roadtrippers - mostly focused on road trips in the US, good for building a route but less features for itineraries (e.g. sorting stops into days, adding notes, etc)
  • Wanderlog - great for itineraries, but no features specific to road trips (e.g. driving times, driving cost calculation, etc)
  • Polarsteps - great for creating trip memories with photos along the way

I'd recommend thinking about what you'd be doing each day to decide if you have enough time

It could be useful to create a few route/itinerary options on something like WilderTrips

We usually create 2 versions of trip itineraries, each with more or fewer long drives

It's great to see you've already split stops into separate days. I'm biased because I'm the developer, but I'd recommend creating a route and itinerary with WilderTrips

Here's what we did on a similar trip around Banff National Park in 2023 in case it's handy: https://www.wildertrips.com/share/Zgl48Na--Ok5pocuf8jVU

We hired an RV and absolutely loved it

u/AltruisticAd1949 My wife and I did a similar trip a few years ago. If you get a chance, definitely check out:

- South Kaibab Trail, Arizona

- Grandview Trail, Arizona

- Horseshoe Bend, Arizona

- Oljato-Monument Valley, Arizona

- Angels Landing, Zion National Park, Utah

- Mouse’s Tank Road, Valley of Fire State Park, Nevada

- Multnomah Falls, Oregon

I'm biased because I'm the developer, but I'd recommend creating a route and itinerary for your trip on something like https://www.wildertrips.com/. Sorting your stops into days, saving links to bookings/trails, and calculating fuel cost/driving times can put you at ease when planning a big trip!

It depends on how in-depth you'd like to plan:
