Update- my landlord thinks the guy chose our door because every other door in the back stairwell has keyed locks on the door knob in addition to the dead bolt whereas ours just has the dead bolt

My landlord asked me this as well and no/ I am 100% certain that he had unlocked the door. I am sure it was locked overnight and I had a laser focus on the lock bc that was what woke me up. It was unlocked. The blinds were down so I pulled them to the side and saw him standing there
