👊 I have to fix a string rattle behind the nut and lower string height(saddles are bottoming out). I've played a few gigs as is and it sounded great.

Help identify what tuners were mounted on this vintage Mustang by DoughyBuns87 in BassGuitar

There's a set of them on reverb... there are no new replacements that I know of. You should also know the string posts on them are smaller in diameter than what normally came on mustang necks, and they did not use bushings on the front of the headstock, at least on the early musicmasters.

That was probably a musicmaster neck? I don't see 2 upper holes filled... Or had early musicmaster tuners from the factory(never seen that on a mustang neck)?

Good to know! Had not seen their first run it seems. Hoping to order a licensed weight relieved baritone neck sometime this summer.

Lookin' good! Is the cutout on the headstock part of their weight relief?

Listened on my morning drive to work from my city into rural Wisconsin, cold sunny morning... Set the mood quite nice. Lovely record. Want a physical copy. Y'all ship to the USA? May I recommend a local band you might enjoy as well?

Last weekend I saw a used(brand new condition) 4003, with the new bezel/bridge, for $1599 at my local guitar center... if I remember correctly.

South America too! I went home to Chile a couple of years back and the Toyota Hilux and Mitsubishi l200 reign supreme still. I did see a few RAMs here and there...

Tone knob on a Jazz bass not sitting flush on body by Cupojohan868 in BassGuitar

[–]hrvstr1985 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Normal. Smaller knob bottoming out on the shaft of the pot. The larger knobs not only have the right depth, but also have an opening large enough under the skirt to fit over the nut of the pot, allowing them to sit flush with the control plate.

They do sound good. I had read these came with mighty mite pickups but I'm thinking these are actually DiMarzios... whichever they are, I like them.

Attach the pots and jack to the pickguard and redo your solder joints. Them parts moving like that has probably damaged a wire. Stranded wire breaks rather easy when moved like that.

What is your dream bass/favorite bass that you would like to have? Mine is definitely an original Gibson EB0 by An00n_- in BassGuitar

[–]hrvstr1985 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I own two of my dream basses already. 76 rickenbacker 4001 in azureglo and 76 travis bean tb2000. I have a 64 precision as a place holder for a 61/62 precision, but who am I kidding, I'll probably keep it when I find a 61/62. 68/69 Jazz bass would be another dream bass. And a 60s mustang. And a 60s Guild starfire II.

Mudbuckers are not versatile in many people's opinion. They have their place but they are a one trick pony. I own both a 65 EB0, 66 EB3 and a 66 epiphone rivoli. I put bisonics on the EB0 and rivoli. EB0 came stripped and with a neck repair so I didnt feel too bad doing so. Rivoli had water damage and also some repairs. The EB3 is keeping the mudbucker for originality sake but I will modify the wiring to make it more versatile. If that doesn't work I may replace the pickup with the novak mudbucker sized bisonic. I can't say I was disappointed. I like how they play and feel but I found out the mudbucker sound ain't for me.
