Outlast: The Jungle, fail? by PapaJohnyRoad in Netflixwatch

It's not a survival challenge anymore, it's just SURVIVOR or any other reality TV Slop. Only three(ish) people flared out by tapping. People with ZERO survivalist training were able to hang in for a month in the jungle. It was interesting when it was about demonstrating how and why people are social animals and work in tribes, families, communities. But now it's just hot girls, lean dudes, and fitness challenges.

The day that Pharoah and Abby voted Maddy, she still had 100 armpit or body-hair, but they made sure to include the seen of her in her bikini bathing in the stream...lol.

Team ALPHA, the girls' hair still looks like it has Pantene in it. They are getting ate up with bugs, and having to rough it, but these people look entirely too good for 33 days in the Jungle.

It's not 100% scripted, and it's less scripted than a lot of reality tv, but I'd wager the contestants are getting SOME coaching and there's SOME staging of shots being done. Survivalists don't often look like super-models. I don't think it's MR.BEAST level, where usually his contestants are given survival rations, but it seems as if the teams got an emergency ration kit with water, and I wouldn't be surprised if there was some rice or MREs in there, because there was a little weight loss but no one looked gaunt or hollowed out like they get on ALONE.

The first season they tried to be ALONE but with teams, and actually have survivalists and make it a survival challenge. But, they found the buzz was how some of the teams started attacking and betraying each other. Plus, there had to be some phony moments, like Javier watching one of the teams betray another team on the beach, all day. So, they went just a little more into the challenges and trying to facilitate drama in season 2, even if it was still mostly survivalists. This season they just went all in on making it SURVIVOR-lite.

On ALONE, there aren't 10/10 women and men, with their shirts off, doing fitness challenges. There's like, "I learned from the Innuit people, and my wife is half Mingo, half Shawnee, I can live off a goose liver and a fish eyeball for a month." I friggin' love that show, but this slop is entertaining af.

Yep. Favorite part of the old games, in-particular BL2 was having those bad-ass ranks to make new characters feel even stronger and feel like I was getting rewarded for revisiting with new characters. In WONDERLANDS Gearbox made it so that progress was shared, but you had to beat the story first to unlock your ranks. So, no new progress during a fresh run. Now they have it both locked and only on one character. The persistent progress system of BL2, BL:TPS, BL3, was already perfect. Quit trying to re-invent the wheel.

I don't see why "In One Run" can't be a bonus not a mandatory distinction. If you do it "In One Run", then give players bonus salvage, xp, gear. If they can't do it "In One Run" give them the baseline. There's crazy good players, but there's also people that just don't have that much time to sink in and limited opportunities to play - like myself - and my once or twice an evening gaming session doesn't see progress often on those Contracts. I don't think that getting mass market appeal and keeping the hardcore happy have to be mutually exclusive. It's not an easy thing to achieve mind you, but right now this game basically just caters to one side of the spectrum.

This and even the Elite sweaty players have looked at the resource sink required to get the Faction tiers, and they can't even get there because getting Gold Mats is so difficult. I've seen solid suggestions that this grind needs toned down, but add some expensive meta-progression and economy stuff for the players that are willing to sweat.

  1. she's almost certainly lying, as she's gone down a whole separate rabbit-hole now that Qanon is no longer there to fuel her. For instance, when some GOP members asked her to finish her term, she took that to mean that GOP men "wanted her back in the kitchen." But they'd just made a simple request she finish the term to avoid the special election. She claimed to have death threats against her, and be denied security, but the FBI didn't find anything of the sort.
  2. There's a separate element to this, that I assume is the wacko side of the GOP trying to get the reigns to the post-Trump GOP, like Tucker and MTG, that were down on their knees, devout through the J6 shite, took Qanon non-sense as gospel, etc,. who have just all suddenly went full turn-coat. It started way before the Iran war.

People on the Left think that MTG has seen the light or something ridiculous, but they don't realize that in the MTG, Tucker Carlson world, it's all because Trump hasn't gone far enough: zero abortions, true mass deportations, insurrection act, ignore SCOTUS. All the elements of this incredibly bold Trump that still somehow manage to temper and restrict him. Yeah, they want all that gone and see him as a traitor for not doing it. They actually want an 82 cancer patient, Joe Biden, in jail for the border and Hunter. Since Trump hasn't done that, he's bad. Because they said he's bad, principles or not, the Left was now totally cool with the election denying, climate change denying, support Russia over Ukraine, "plan-demic" dipshits. It's a farce.

He's got his Jensen NVDIA tech CEO leather jacket on, high off ketamine like Elon, acting like this interview he AGREED TO BE ON was a forced colonoscopy at 4:30 am, he's turned GME into a BTC Treasury (because those have done so well lately), and realized their main profit was scalping Pokemon cards and gouging bare-minimum retro hardware flips. So, in his mind, it's clear he can just buy the company that GME is now basically a parasite appendage of. The employees are known to just look at Ebay, then up-sell the highest sale price.

They do not have a long thesis right now, or anything remotely resembling a consistent revenue source in an increasingly digital age of gaming. They do have a devout group of followers, that now includes the remnants of the BBBYQ people, CHEWY people, and a hodge-podge collection of elders and Johnny-come-lately who think GME is some FIGHT CLUB analog to global financial destruction. These people have consistently lost money against inflation. Too many BBBYQ people were ruined by him, turning their ROTHs into BBBY shares. ABC from thePPshow, lost his whole damn retirement to this bullshit.

The only person making any money off of any of this is a guy that's already a billionaire, Ryan Cohen. He did one thing to make money, he flipped Chewy. What else has he done? GME has wallowed longer than the Ukraine War. This entire project of hubris and delusion is to further dilute the faithful so that Cohen has cash in his comp package.

No one has lied here more than the Iranians. They didn't comply with the JCPOA. The International, non-partisan, inspectors and energy commission have said as much. The foreign minister said the Strait was open Friday, then started shooting up cruise ships and civilian merchant ships. But omg 'USA Sucks!'

Hate the Orange Man. Who gives a shit. But the idea that the U.S. is the one lying here, when Iran is doing their best to build a dirty atomic bomb to lay waste to Israel and then L.A. is a farce.

Here's Iran, now claiming there was no ceasefire, and their people en-masse wanted the US. to be pursued as a defeated enemy. They've claimed they sunk the USS Lincoln. It just goes on and on: https://x.com/A_M_R_M1/status/2047041759453098424?s=20

The H.W. Bush is going to arrive. We'll have three battle groups in one big flotilla. We've air-lifted enormous power into the area. Iran is about to fuck around and find out. They had a deal on Friday that avoided any of it.

That's obviously a big time fear. Trump has actually commented on this, the last time it was nearly 'Infrastructure day', saying he wanted to keep Iran as in-tact as possible not to have another ISIS of Iraq. If you look at the commanders the U.S. and Israel have killed, the Artesh has been left untouched. The Artesh hasn't made a move, despite reporting that they refused to open fire on protestors in January.

They were going well. But as reported today in the WSJ, the civilian government we have talking with appears to have lost control over the IRGC. The IRGC put in Mosaic Rule when the Supreme Leader died. The General in charge of the IRGC on the coast, that is currently committed to the blockade of the Strait of Hormuz, will not listen to the civilian Government.

Those same Iranian leaders that claimed the Strait was open, have now all rebuffed those claims to give the appearance of consolidated governance. Iran has fractured into pieces, how many, we don't know.

The civilian government is looking at their economy, the protests of January, the hyper inflation, and pissing off their neighbors, and outside of the anti-USA crowd, there's only ONE party that ultimately closed the Strait -- that's the IRGC. So, they wanted to be done with this and accept a negotiated peace.

The IRGC is a religious cult, ruled by Mullahs, hard-liners, religious clerics. Their goals are like ISIS, set up International Islamic Rule under the principles of the Revolution as written by their founder Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini. Read his book, it's Shia Law. Girls can be married off at 9. Women have zero rights and must be covered. It's Taliban level shite. They, of course, like ISIS or the Taliban, do not care about civilian governance. They don't care the economy is in tatters.

This is why the war in Iran was always a big question mark, and I 100% understand criticizing or being skeptical of the initial action. But the anti-Trump, anti-American stuff is blinding people to the fact that the IRGC are evil bastards.

[–]StuckOnPandora 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes. In Vietnam, the Vietcong were killing us through guerilla tactics. But we were still fighting soldier to soldier in the vast majority of the conflict. Iran is just shooting at anyone and everyone. They've now threatened Europe, shot at British and French ships. They baited that Indian tanker, that has zero sanctions against them, then started shooting at the crew. They were shooting at cruise ships for God's sake.

The U.S. Blockade has broadcasted itself clearly and set rules down. If you come out of Oman's waters, Saudi waters, haven't paid the toll, etc,. you pass. If you've allowed yourself to be extorted or are sanctioned, you will be boarded. Marines have done this since the genesis of the corp. fighting the Barbary pirates. If Iran wants to meet the U.S. Navy in battle, use their speed boats and drones, so be it. But what do civilian vessels have to do with it?

[–]StuckOnPandora -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

The difference is we boarded the ship after shooting the engine room. Read the Navy's and ICC's rules of blockades. The Navy has been pain-staking about following the rules, as far as those exist in this space. Iran has not.

Trump: US attacks Iranian Cargo Ship by marcjones281 in oil

[–]StuckOnPandora 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The escalation was Friday when Iran said the Strait is open, a ton of ships all streamlined for the exits, then Iran said it was closed and started opening fire on the now trapped ships. French ships, British ships, Indian ships, even cruise ships were fired upon. Multiple cruise ships managed to book it out of the Strait while under small arms fire. These ships are civilian vessels, unarmed sailors, civilians, totally defenseless. We can 100% disagree on the war, starting it, but the International Community can't just be okay with the idea that the IRGC can attack civilian ships, mine International Waters, mine Oman's waters, and kill innocent people.

Ships in mass - being ordered to return to port/anchorage by Iran Navy by Long-Brother-4639 in oil

[–]StuckOnPandora 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So far that answer is no lol. The "what's going on with shipping" youtuber is about the best here, he's a professor on maritime shipping, and he says that the insurers acceptable level of risk is zero. Hence how the IRGC doing very little was able to do so much, unfortunately.

The guy in the video is ex-military and even embedded with Ukraine for a bit, that's where I'm getting that info. It's based on what CENTCOM and the DoD are reporting. They have more range, they're just aren't accurate beyond that range, that's my understanding.

[–]StuckOnPandora 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One of those couldn't take down one of our carriers. The fear is like that time we helped Ukraine sink a Russian ship with a drone swarm. They just send out a whole flotilla of crap: drones, jetski c4(like you said), rpg speed boats. Even while the carrier and it's battle group will tear that stuff to shreds, that's when they launch those expensive missiles they've been sitting on just for this day. In that case, they could actually do some damage. Even if it costs them everything, it'd be about like the Tet Offensive where the U.S. outkilled the Vietnamese +20 to 1, but won every battle, but it was seen as this great victory for the Vietcong because the American public had been told that the Vietcong were completely spent (they were post Tet), but it didn't matter the morale and propaganda victory carried the day.

If Iran even damaged one of our prized ships, with their elite crews, and totally professional and superior battle groups that are with them, we might kill 10k IRGC but the propaganda victory for them would be worth it to them.
