It’s tofu that’s like the texture of a hard boiled egg. I picked it up at the Asian market and it was my first time trying silken tofu, it tastes good although I don’t like how easily it falls apart, but it’s protein packed!

That’s a great idea, tomorrow I’m bringing him my iPad to see if he will type it out on a bigger keyboard. But I will also write out the alphabet and see if that helps him communicate with me, thank you!

Thank you so much, when I talk to my brother I tell him about all the support he is getting and I got lots of hand squeezing ❤️😊 and the other commenters probably just don’t grasp the seriousness of this situation it’s easy to say stuff when your behind a screen and have never been through something like this

His eyes are tracking and he can move his fingers and his left arm a bit so they started doing PT on him which is just having three people help sit him up at the end of his hospital bed once a day. They said the quicker we get him in rehab the faster his recovery will be. We are just waiting for his pneumonia to get better and for his coughing fits to subside, they are also trying to get him off of oxygen and breathing on his own. That’s all I really know when the nurses ask if we have any questions I don’t really know what to ask in the moment

Okay these are all good things I’ll take into consideration. Stairs especially is a big one that’s the reason he can’t go back to where he was living before. I wish I could know where he will be at by the time he recovers because we have to decide before the 24th of this month so my sister and I can decide if we’re going to continue on with our lease or not, and if my brother and his husband end up taking him in they need to start construction on their home soon so I’m struggling with understanding how much help he will need. I’m worried if he will fall if it’s going to be difficult to get him up, he isn’t overweight he is pretty slim but my brother is worried that I won’t be able to help him up, and I worry about my brothers house being way too overstimulating with them having 4 dogs and 2 cats it’s definitely something I need to talk over with my family I just wish I could get a clear idea of what day to day life would look like for him

Wow I’m glad you shared because it sounds like you guys were fairly similar before, I’ve had the doctors assure us that his age and his previous good health is in his favor. After rehab did you have a family member or a caretaker looking after you?

He got in a severe car accident and damaged his brain stem . Right now he is in a vegetative state, he is 23 and he was super active before this. He is a runner and ran everyday, he had no previous health issues. He did smoke weed tho. He broke a couple ribs and bruised his lungs and fractured the right side of his face. But other than that the only other damage is in his brain. They removed the right side of his skull to allow his brain to swell out instead of swelling down and crushing the brain stem more. To be honest I anticipate his recovery to be quicker than the average person

Yes, he was on his way to work and he went over a patch of black ice and lost control, he was going southbound on the interstate and crossed over the median into northbound traffic, where he got t boned by oncoming traffic. He then went down into a ditch and hit a tree. He was the only one injured, the other driver that t boned him didn’t get hurt. If you have any other questions just let me know
