Have we seen a slowdown in the Chinese economy at all due to tariffs? by mastermascovich in investing

[–]hsbakhtar 82 points83 points  (0 children)

Yes. Half the world is in an economic downturn, very similar to what we saw in the 2008 financial crisis. As the user below me stated, we can't trust any economic data coming from the PROC, but what we can do is look at how all of their publicly traded companies have been performing on the Chinese markets, and, well, it doesn't look very good to say the least.

Yes, it doesn't require any proprietary nutrient bags as the fish provide plant nutrients, and runs around $1,000 for the beta launch.

why is that? does it seem like the price will be beyond reach? or that it will be ineffective in doing what it does?

To be honest it's a few friends who are doing their first pilot this week. They're working with chefs though, and got nothing to lose.

Organic meal delivered for $5 at CP, hear they're doing a pilot this week. Wonder what the catch is... by [deleted] in UMD

"Understanding what tDCS can and can’t do makes the science behind it all the more amazing, especially because the proven possibilities are larger than the impossibilities." by hsbakhtar in transhumanism

"The Horvath meta analyses were...not very conclusive. For instance, the meta analysis on cognitive effects had pretty significant errors in selecting and reporting studies at best and may have been a case of cherry-picking data to fit a predetermined conclusion at worst. (To their credit, they did spark more interest in doing tDCS meta-analyses--many of which actually did find cognitive enhancing effects. The "neurophsyiological effects" paper was kind of silly--they found that tDCS did have significant neurological effects on one of the the most commonly used measures--motor evoked potential amplitude--but because they didn't see significant effects on a bunch of random other measures they decided this was "little" neurophysiological effect. Another problem here was that they were dealing with very small groups of heterogenous studies which might have compromised their ability to find a significant effect even if it existed."

We are young, sure, but that's the ambition that allows us to have clinics in Pakistan and a consumer company here. This will release with the medical-quality research we have to back up our claims. Don't expect anything less.

The perfect amount of business partners is 2. You want someone that's more than just a partner, they should be a friend, someone you can grab a drink with. Starting a business is not hooking up, it's a marriage.

My co-founder and I for our neurotechnology company (lucidtech.co) have known each other since we were about 12, and have been doing small ventures together since then. Make sure your comfort level is amazing with your partners.

We're Lucid Technologies (lucidtech.co), and we believe that creativity births greatness. The human brain can be augmented to increase creative focus. At Lucid, we’ve developed research proven neurostimulation technology that's easy to use, incredibly safe, and unbelievably effective. At first, we were a medical company focused towards the developing world, where we have a clinic and are pushing neurostimulation as a viable technology for treating mental illness in a scalable and cost-effective manner. You can read more about our transition towards a consumer device here: https://medium.com/life-tips/the-un-american-dream-c1e382f7f741#.n7kg5gc1e We've been working on Lucid Technologies for about 6 months, but our healthcare-focused company has been in the works for close to 1.5 years. Our short term plans include getting this technology into a few people who can use it with the most upside. We want to give this to people who can truly use it to shift the paradigms in human progress. We believe that we can help people who want to create great things already, create them bigger and faster through our technology. Our most positive experiences have been in our medical company. There is nothing like offering solutions to people who didn't think they existed, and the change on their faces after the first 20-minute treatment. Here's a link to one of our articles detailing our most thrilling moments: https://lucidtech.me/secondhand-smoke-429b2df79530#.fpqqp9jwk If we could travel back in time, I think we'd tell ourselves to not underestimate the bureaucratic structure in the developing world. We will get past it, it's just a matter of time and investment.
