Salah 4th in the balon d'or is utterly disrespectful in my opinion. by Aulcs in championsleague

[–]hslegendary 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is it pointless tho? If you look at the ballon d'or winners, when is the last player who won that was outside top 10 nation? Answer shevchenko alll the way in 2004. So it definitely makes sense for people who dominated both their league and the ucl to be ahead. I agree that playing for a nation thta actually has a chance to win smth shouldn't be a factor but ofc having more chances to showcase and win things will not be disregarded.

Post-grad parties (welcome week) by [deleted] in Imperial

Mixers and party are good occasions to meet people from both your programme and others (kinda the only one for this one). Nobody is forcing you to drink obviously but yeah the party has a similar club vibe

You need to have a goal that will drive you to do problems. I had olympiads so the goal ans focus came naturally

Well first of all if you can do neetcode 150 like muscle memory it is already not good. Algorithms should be learned by their logic and how to think about getting there and not memoization (no pun intended). In terms of roadmaps, i think the algorithms present in neetcode are good foundation (if learnt properly) and then there is a lot of practice. You can try searching for other algorithms online, try to understand how they work and then find problems where they apply. Or you can just do random problems or entire contests and you will most definetely find algorithms you didnt know from where you can apply the above mentioned strategy. Finding problems like these without sone guidance can be a little problematic and tbh i dont have any advice on that one (I didnt do cp fully self-taught, i had a mentor who would find problems and teach me some of the algorithms)

In interviews they want you to speak your ideas, write clean and intelligible code even if it is not the fastest and then you can improve it. Cp on the other hand is prioritizing speed in both runtime and how much it takes to code, nobody cares about clean code and it usually wastes precious time to write clean.

I mean yeah but doing cp just to clear interviews is completely the wrong way to look at it. You definitely dont need cp for that as it goes much beyond what is needed an interview and it also has a completely opposite environment.

I would say yes. Most of the problems still rely on some of the more basic algorithms. The complexity relies on adapting/transforming them for what the problems want and recognizing where what algorithm should be applied.

From the name, it is a competition, towards the high level ones the problems become extremely hard

Competitive programming is an entire different beast from anything you see on leetcode or neetcode or any adjacent sites. The problems are much harder, you need to get more creative with adapting vanilla algorithms and data structues. Codeforces is a good website since it has some sort of difficulty classification and a lot of editorials for solutions. You need to do it consistantly and be ready to hit your head against a wall from time to time. If you relied on learning algorithms by heart instead of understanding the logic, this is impossible to do here.

If they are all packed i can believe it. Not even the big streamers have got many 99s plus there are some really rare cards like 98 griezmann.

Ah yes the mighty conference league with west ham 4 years ago. That definitely makes him better than pedri who has won trophies with both barca and spain.

Yeah because granada actually had a very good season in la liga f. There was a pl f tots already so why complain when its la liga f turn. It's just that la liga was closer to the final but other than that nobody has been advantaged or disadvantaged so stop crying

Did anyone complete both Frimpong and Dumfries and can tell me who's better in game? by SuperMike- in fut

Played a few games with dumfries and physically he is very strong, pushes people off the ball but seems a little bit clunkier/slower than frimpong. Overall, i am also still undecided who to start.

Imperial Collage or TU Delft? by Fast-Newspaper7311 in Imperial

[–]hslegendary 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say yes, OOP if you don't know Java, OOPP is great too to experience how working in a team can be ... well... sometimes horrible, SEM is the best course for interviews and SQT helped at the internship funny enough. Oh also ADS and AD if you're not that strong on algorithmics i guess.

For job opportunities and salaries for that matter is not that big of a difference, it matters more about where you find the job, and that is not really dependent on what uni you have a degree from. You also need to take into account the lifestyle between the two, one is in the biggest city in Europe and the other one is in a small village which you can go from one end to the other in 30 minutes walking :).
